A few of my buddies are tired of bettting online and are in desperate search of a local. I'm thinking about taking their bets (nothing huge all less than $100 per game) but I'm wondering what the penalty and fines would be if i were to get busted.
I reside in michigan and really would only be taking their action as a favor to them.....i don't need the money. Is it worth it the risk? What are the fines and punishment if I were to get busted???

if you're doing book for like 4 or 5 friends I doubt anything would happen to you. Just remember though you'll be dealing with money and friends, what if they bet more than they can afford to lose and can't pay you, what are you gonna do. I suggest if you're doing it for your friends you operate on post up only.
Find like a good cheap PPH service let them post up and bet whatever they want to bet on online. If you want to be nice you can give them a limit of a little over what they post up or something like that.
Probably the best way to do it, operating on credit with friends is not going to be a good thing. Tons of locals in Michigan though, if they can't find one i doubt they have even looked, or they are not in a metro area.

If you do decide to do it, tell them you are sending the wagers to someone else and your doing it as a favor with no profit and if they don't pay you would have to. If they buy it, you might have a tad less issues

I don't know who said this quote but here it goes " Don't ever LET MONEY COME BETWEEN FRIENDS". Bad idea and you will have less friends. So why not just go to a bar and enjoy the games with your friends root each other on.

I remember going up to Cheyboygen to visit friends a long time ago when I lived in Lansing for a few years and we passed Gaylord. I think Petoskey is on the way to Cheybogen. It's a small population in those northern MI areas. I would take your friends' action since you know them, but watch who else you take on. I once took several of my friends wagers, but I told them I was putting the wagers in thru my book. It was hard, because they are excited to win their parlays/bets and you have to conceal your ultimate goal of winning their bet. I took some money from my friends, and I you will also win in the long run. You will get hit every now and then, but hang in their because they will lose in the long run. However, I would tell your friends that you will only bet if you have the money in hand, say a couple of hundred, as you had once been burned in the past for several grand. I had one friend that got down about 8k in a month's timeframe but he moved away shortly and I think he eventually knew I was taking the bets. He never paid, and I wasn't going to bug him. Hence, these are the problems discussed above with taking friends' money. I said if I did this again that my friends would give me some money upfront to begin their wagering, and that their losses would not exceed a certain amount or else they would be cut off from betting until they paid up.

Why not do it? If they are good friends they wouldn't put you in a bad position and not pay you. If they don't pay then they really aren't good friends so fuck them. I would rather lose money to my friend then to a god damn bookie....as far as the law?come on nothing is going to come against you for that petty shit

I only have 6-10 players but all of them are good friends, were usually watching the games together. I have not had any problems really. You have to understand people risk more than they can afford, so when someone goes down and cant pay-DONT BE A DICK.
Let them know its all good and that if they can give you a small amount to keep moving thats cool. The key is to have friends that are real friends, not randoms trying to fuck you over. ALl of my guys are good friends and wouldn't risk our friendship over a few hundred bucks.
Also, when they win, pay out-always, try not to roll figures over. If you don't pay one week then your friend thinks he can rollover when ever they want.

Like I also said, if you're watching the game with your boys dont cheer against them. When you're the book you're siding on the side of the vegas experts that can narrow a game down to a single possession in most cases. If your buddies want to try and outsmart the experts GL to them-but they won't be successful.
Last week I got killed from the pats onsaturday, but everyone doubled their wagers and put them on GB straight and teased and that one game made me profitable on the week. Sit back n watch the dough roll in my friend.
