Local vs Online which is better?

In a previous subject I got into trouble with my local. But what are the advantages of each. It seems to me not dealing with checks is a lot easier.

i use both and ive known my local for many many years and have a nice credit line with him , altho for ht and 1st q bets i use off shore acc and i even have one of those off shore acc that are run by agents so i never ever have to worry about a book being down because i cant get online . I love dealing with my local because its a matter of just going to his place of bussiness (sp) and collecting my dough or dropping off . And if local not available i just leave it on phone mail    hope this helps

I agree with angelo... I mainly use my offshore for day to day small action. When I got something HOT to wager on... I just visit my locals place to drop off my play. If i hit, pick it that evening. The local is actually alot better and safer if you have been dealing with him for awhile.

I will third that opinion and say that dealing with a local is much better. Ive been with the same guy for 11 years and never got paid a day late or a dollar short. No dealing with checks, banks, withdrawal issues, waiting for payouts, and the infinite number of other problems we see here day in and day out via offshores. my guy offers all the betting options id find at thegreek or pinnacle, and at comparable odds.

my local never ever stiffed me and he dont stiff nobody and i never got into that problem if i couldnt pay because i wont bet if i cant pay , thats not a good thing to get into , but i know if i owed my man like alot of money and an emergency came up where i couldnt pay he wouldgive me time because ive been with him for yrs and we are friends who go to sporting events and play cards together at the social clubs ...

why would a local ever feel the need to stiff anyone? its bad for business. if word gets around his business would be devastated. he knows the losers in the long run will far outnumber the winners, so its worth his while to pay all the winners out. plus he knows that his business will expand mainly via word of mouth and by paying winners he is proving hes reliable, and therefore more likely to get increased business. my guy has even told me that if i refer a few friends i can start getting all my wagers booked at -101 odds, basically no vig.

HI &#xD;&#xA;I DON&#x27;T KNOW ABOUT YOUR BETTING LIMITS BUT, I AM FROM TORONTO AND IT IS HARD TO FIND LOCALS WHO TAKES 50$ BETS OR EVEN SMALLER. LOCALS ARE GOOD FOR STRAIGHT BETTING WITH ONE LUM SUM BUT, AT THE BOOKS YOU CAN BET MUCH SMALLER&#xD;&#xA;AND THAT&#x27;S THE DIFFERENT FOR ME

I&#x27;ve only ever dealt with a local. Make all my wagers on their website or can call in their wagers. They have an office in CR. They are all over Southern Ontario and I&#x27;ve had a couple of problems getting paid, but recently that was resolved when I met up with the big boss. Local all the way!

havent your locals gone over to online with the same payments its always been.Pay the next week on friday with cash only way to bet.

any local that doesnt have a website is taking money out of your pocket.Some old timers here in NY dont like the online thing ,then they are amazed when Itell them how many 2nd half bets Iwin in football ,that the oldschool bookie doesnt let u bet for one.

i use both to shop lines, but i much prefer when my local has an equal or better line. Not sure how everyone settles up. With my guy the week runs from monday thru sunday, i've a 1ok credit line and we settle up on the dimes. Sunday night, if i'm up $985 it carries to the next week, if i'm down $999 it carries to the next week. Extremely convenient, he comes by my office and I pay him if its over 1k and he pays me if i'm up over 1k.

one advantage of the offshore post up is bonus money, but other than that, a local with a good website is much preferred.
