In 2009, according to the American Gaming Association, $2.6 billion was
legally wagered on sports in Nevada. It's estimated that $380 billion
per year is illegally bet in this country -- with more than $1 billion
wagered on the Super Bowl alone. In 2006, Congress passed a law making
it illegal for offshore websites to collect money from gamblers in the
United States. But that only eliminated the faint of heart. While the
number of foreign sites dropped by roughly 50 percent, the overall
handle diminished only minimally.

Open up a newspaper and you'll see betting lines in the Sports section. If it's legal to post lines, why is it illegal to gamble? Same thing as: it's okay to get a hooker, but illegal to prostitute.

Your arguments are very weak. Gambling is legal in certain places but on-line gambling is not... period.
Also it is not okay to get a hooker...that is illegal and so is prostitution but in some counties in Nevada, USA prostitution is legal.
You believe gambling should be legalized on-line well go to the authorities to push for it until then just obey and respect the LAW...ok?

The Wire-act only makes it illegal to ACCEPT a bet, not to actually PLACE a bet. There has been no one prosecuted on the federal level since 1981 for gambling, and even that guy only got a $500 fine and no jail time.
If you report your winnings and/or losses to the IRS, that's all they care about. I'd love if you can prove me wrong though..

Its amazing how stupid our government is. They would make tens of billions of dollars every year if they would legalize sports betting and marijuana and then tax it. But no. Obama and friends would rather tax us more.
