Going for the HOF induction next month. Looking for a good place to eat.  Please remember...I'm from Texas, so BBQ and Mexican is probably not even worth discussing.

OK, not Cleveland...Canton...and maybe Youngstown in addition to Columbus

if you're staying in Cleveland and driving to Canton, you'll take I-77 south.  regardless, if you're in Canton, you'll be in the neighborhood.  you HAVE to go to Swenson's.

cowboydave, it's the best damn cheeseburger you'll ever eat.  I've lived in 6 cities and nothing comes close.  there are discussion boards where people try to copy their recipe.  please check it out.

BTW, they're only in the Akron/Canton area.  it would be a great place to grab a bite before or after the induction. 

if you don't go i'll be pissed.

HOF area isn't shit around there as far as high quality eats.

Downtown Cleveland I can give you a ton of recommendations, but not the HOF area.

The closest really good restaurant near where you will be is the Richfield Tavern. Older guys will recall the Richfield Cioliseum where the Cavs used to play. I hope it's still there. It's been 15 years. I actually met Joe Dimaggio there in 1984. A frat brother was going out with the owner pof the restaurant (Mel Rose). joe was really quite gracious and kind. Willing to talk, but we knew enough to not overstay our welcome.

I imagine it's 40 miles from where you'll be. Forget about the 130 miles to drive to Columbus, but there are a ton of great restaurants there.

I'll google Richfield Tavern. That is a long time for a restaurant to be there 15 years later and had been there for at least 20 years previous. The "village" of Richfield is full of old money, it being in N.E. Ohio old money, and a lot of mobbed up shit. BRB

Can't lose, and Youngstown really sucks for just about anything you could ever think of. Richfield as mentioned, not too far away. They have the address, so yahoo the miles. You wouldn't regret it.

All I know is we'll be in Columbus and Canton.  Sounds like Youngstown is a no-go for sure

 

Molsen. I can guarantee you we will hit Swenson's.  It looks great on their sitge. I will report back.

Haha, I just spent 10 days in Youngstown with my family. I didn't eat out once. Just drive a few hours north to Sandusky, Ohio and go to Cedar Point. Their french fries rule.

Go to Springfield Grille in my hometown of Boardman for a great steak  dinner.

Also check out the MVR for Italian downtown. Good local hangout by my alma mater.

If you go to Youngstown to eat I'd recommend to hit the nearest drive thru so you can get the hell out of that shithole.

Ohio sucks but that is the armpit of the entire state.
