About Sports Gambling Addiction?

I started  with 11.000  and now im down to 6000? what am I insane or something ? I work hard at my job to make that 11.000

Started with 11K how long ago? And how much are you wagering per?  I'm gonna be real with you. Sports betting, gambling in general, is kind of like singing. Most people know that they can't, so they just don't try. Maybe they mess around here and there, but nothing too serious. Then there's a small group that thinks they can but an even smaller group that actually can. If you have to ask the questions you're asking then you should really give it up. Maybe take up singing. You're not gonna lose anything of value butchering karaoke night.

You're really lacking money management. Remember that there is no such thing as HUGE or Large when placing your bets. Never, ever bet more than 2 1/2 % of your bankroll on any one wager. 

Some people risk less than 2 1/2 % but this percentage works well for me  I hope this helps you.   GL  

 

 

 

Ouch 5Gs in a week...........For sure you are betting too much per bet if 11,000 was your bankroll.......Try slowly to win it back......

Honestly, if your roll was 11k. You either bet too many games or are just lacking discipline most likely to lose 5k.

95% of sports gamblers are losers.  Fact.  If you're in that top 5% then I salute you for having the combination of mathematical smarts and self control necessary to consistently produce winning numbers.  You can talk to me until you are blue in the face and I will not accept any other necessary factors than the two underlined above.

In my 61 years on Planet Earth I have gambled on sports for 52 of those years.  I am not a 5%er.  I am not a consistent winner.  Winning seasons?  Sure.  But nothing anywhere near being in the 5% club. 

But I still gamble on sports because I view it as entertainment.  It's a "hobby".  There are much worse "hobbies" out there in the world.  It's not a live or die situation for me like some kind of "job" where I MUST succeed, where I MUST produce to put food on the family table.  If you are not a 5%er then you take things WAY too seriously.

The OP claims he lost $5K.  He didn't.  It's just not "on paper" any more.  As long as he still has $6K left from his original bankroll then he is still in the game.  If you sit at a Blackjack table, buy in for $1K, and lose $400 on the very first shoe you are not a loser.  If you win $700 on the next shoe you are not a winner.  You are only a loser or a winner when your azz is in the car seat and you are now driving home.

I bought 50 shares of Facebook when it recently tanked to $176.  It lost another $10 a share down to $166.  Did I panic?  H3LL NO!!!  Bought another 50 shares so I am now leveraged at $171 on 100 shares.  It shot back up to $185 so I'm a genius, right?  Wrong.  It tanked again yesterday and is sitting at $167.  I wasn't counting my $1400 profit then and I'm not counting my $400 loss today.  BECAUSE MY AZZ IS NOT YET IN THE CAR AND DRIVING HOME.

How do we know the OP doesn't have another $100K to "invest" in his sports gambling adventure?  We don't.  We don't know anything about this guy other than he is crying about losing $5K  "on paper".  So saying he should be wagering this or that amount of his bankroll is irresponsible advice. 

I want to hear how this story plays out.

Just get out bro.  Betting is clearly giving you stress and angst and just isn't worth it if you can't control your bets and lost 5K in a week.

The way I see it, the highs of winning (when it happens) are not as fun or enjoyable compared to how shiity the feeling is when you have a losing week.  Its funny the way our (my) brain works.  When you lose your fuckkin pissed and regret betting because you could have spent that money elsewhere, likely on something that is more significant. Whereas, when you win a bet or have a winning week, its easy to be pissed or unhappy for "not having bet more" or something similar.  Bottom line - its a lose/lose.  The best way to approach it is what GG said - a hobby and for entertainment purposes only, which is perfectly fine because sports and sports betting are DAMN FUN and entertaining!!  Take some time off and don't even watch sports for the next week or two.  The break works wonders for your psyche and mental health.  Good luck man

Agreed with these guys. Keep your money and spend it elsewhere. Novice gamblers may as well play the slots. People who actually make money on sports betting are disciplined and use their eyes to help determine outcomes. Almost all of my best bets are a result of following a certain team for a length of time and trying to understand their tendencies, strengths, and faults. Also keep a close tab on the local beat writers for that team, never what the national media has to say. It's hard, but if you treat it as an interesting hobby it can be fun and profitable.

you need to go small ball guy... 11k isnt a lot of room to work with if youre living on your own. 

ZK:  Believe me I have been watching. And you are doing VERY well and continued success.  Not a single Thread goes by here on Covers where I am not privy to the action.  I am NOT losing at a 55% clip but I know how very difficult it is to hit that magic 52.5%.

One possible explanation for your losses is that you have bad karma...you like to jump around here into many peoples threads very frequently bashing and trolling their picks when they lose...you worry too much about what other people are doing and not spending enough time capping your own games...thats one explanation...another is your overusage of the rolling face laughing emoji...that too brings bad karma from the way you use it...another explanation is that youre a racist based on many things you have said on this site...thus more bad karma.

I for one hope you lose it all because thats what people like you deserve in the end...your best move is to quit now while you still have something left because 100% you will lose it all if you keep gambling.
