Entertaining interview!
Alex Jones is just a "provocateur" looking to get more people to go to his web site and listen to his talk radio show BUT he DID say one thing in the interview that was correct. IF the PILOTS of the 9-11 aircraft had been ARMED, the plot would have FAILED.
most people don't know that up until the early 1950's pilots were REQUIRED to be armed because the aircraft were carrying the US mail. that changed to where it was "optional" up until 1986 when airline managments, who where worried about "liability" got the FAA to ban guns from the cockpit.
on December 7th, 1987, a crazy LA based ramp agent who had been fired by US Air, used the employee ID card he had not turned in to bypass airport security and bring a gun aboard PSA flight 1771 which was a BEA 146 flying from LAX to SFO. he shot his former supervisor and then the pilots and the out of control aircraft crashed near San Luis Obispo northwest of LA killing all 43 people on board.
after the incident, many airline pilots lobbyed to go back to the "carry if your qualified" rule BUT the Secretary of Transportation Elizabeth Dole instead ordered that all airline employees, including flight crew, had to go thru airport security which effectively disarmed the "old school" pilots, many of whom where former military and even some "sheriff deputies", that were still carrying a gun in their flight bag. once agian, the airline companies worry about "liabilities" (and their continued attempts to abrogate "captains authority") trumped the safety of the aircraft, passengers and crew
since shortly after 9-11 there has been the Federal Flight Deck Officer (FFDO) program in which pilots can be trained and certified to carry in the cockpit BUT airline managements, once again using the straw man of "liability", have been lobbying to get the program curtailed and their have been massive cuts in it's budget the last two years.
IF the 9-11 pilots had been ARMED, it would have been "I will SEE your box cutter and RAISE you a Glock". BANG, BANG, BANG, END of INCIDENT!!!
