Victims did come out before. Never went as far as it could of for whatever reasons. But one of the victims mother's brought it up in 1998 to the Penn St. University police and Sandusky admitted to hugging the boy while naked in the shower. Sandusky then said to the mother with detectives listening in "I was wrong. I wish I could get forgiveness. I know I won't get it from you. I wish I were dead." The case was never prosecuted and reasons were not given in any articles I have seen. Maybe not enough evidence, I don't know.

So the victims have to be re-traumatized and go through it all over again?
For what?
I have a long experience working with people and heal and overcome from various types of horrific abuse... And I can tell you that it is really as simple as this...
Sandusky is a monster...
PSU and paterno were enablers... without enablers monsters cannot do what they do...
What more do you need to know about this?

Agreed that there are multiple people responsible. The DA investigating disappeared in 2005. So its hard to say if it was because this case or not.
I saw this case on one of those true crime cases.A computer also dissapeared with him, they finally found the hard drive in the Susquahana (spelling) but it was destroyed.Everyone was baffled as to his dissapearence. hhmmnnn

I wonder if there's a connection with the missing DA and this case ... sadly we'll prolly never know
Apparently this DA had evidence that Sandusky's charity "The Second Mile" was providing young boys to rich donors. If this story is confirmed, then I'd say Sandusky would be a possible suspect pertaining to the missing DA.

This entire matter needs to be turned into a criminal investigation. I believe the absolute best time for this to happen is the day that the victim turns 18 years of age, at which time this young man should be given the opportunity to describe what happened to authorities. Prior to this event, the authorities should question McQueary about what he witnessed. The two statements should be very similar. McQueary would be silly to lie because his current exposure to the legal system is minimal and he could provide further proof of what happened in the shower that day. Those verbal statements combined with the victim's account of the incident should lock up Sandusky for life.
McQueary could also describe what, if anything, he told Paterno. Those statements could provide insight as to the degree that Paterno knew what happened that day and why he did the absolute minimum (from a legal standpoint) and his reaction (and subsequent inactions) to what he was told was extremely lacking from a humanitarian view.
Firing Paterno was the only thing the school could do, even though we may never know what Paterno's ties to this situation are. The school had two unpleasant choices; either allow Paterno to finish the season and retire, facing a PR nightmare, or dismiss him (possibly without absolute cause, ruining the legend of the man who made Penn St. relevant) and endure a totally separate set of PR challenges (which they are finding to be extremely unpleasant).
The state of Pennsylvania bears the majority of responsibility for Paterno's handling of this situation. Had they upheld the standards of the job the taxpayers of Pennsylvania are paying them for, Paterno would have acted in an entirely different manner than he did. By no means is he blameless in this matter, but when this happened he put himself in a situation that he cannot justify today and could not justify then.
