Riding through a small town on the coast in maine.
Saw a lot of stones the old white lime stone and older slat stones destroyed.
For what purpose? These stones stayed in p!ace for over 150 years. Now most are broken in half and strewn about.
The cemetery contains some of the earliest colonialists.
It made me sad.
The area Is very affluent. Coastal town. Maine.
Where I live is not as nice ,
but our cementaries are pristine
veterans markers with a flag for summer wreath for winter .
Clean of litter well mowed,
Genealogy and many Americans desire to connect
with their ancestors allows these stones reverence.
This connection makes the needless destruction ever mire apparent.
For a good deal of time my dad kept a journal of graveyards and gravestones we explored looking for distant relatives. Many stones I have seen at times carbon traced for a print.
The most noteworthy,
that I can recall to sum up this reflection of thought,
was in Naples Maine on the lambs mills road.
The family name was Tyng.
It read,
" Where you are I once was
where I am you shall be. "

I like your story but it has nothing to do with your subject heading. In the centuries prior to Christ, Egyptian grave robbers would pillage the sacred tombs of the pharaohs. And you're up in arms over a few broken bricks? Get a perspective of what is inevitable and what is not respectful.

We have regressed in areas like holding a door or an elevator open for another person, please/thank you, doors are no longer left open in a neighborhood, unions are no longer powerful, you can practically shoot another person with little fear of prosecution, debate on almost any subject is no longer conducted civilly, basic math and writing skills are no longer stressed in our schools, there's a general disrespect of those in authority, homelessness is a genuine fear of many in our country, veterans have never been so poorly treated, workers are working insanely long hours while others have decided to leave the workforce entirely, parenting has been outsourced & family values have deteriorated along with having dinner together as a family, our media can longer be trusted to report the truth, drug abuse has ravished & destroyed families, a woman's right to choose is being taken away by those in power, someone else is always to blame for personal failures, "can do" attitudes and personal responsibility have fallen by the wayside, a sense of entitlement has grown in our society, fewer believe in the American Dream.
On the progression side of the coin, technology & medical advancements are incredible, the LGBT community is beginning to get the rights deserved by every citizen with many becoming more tolerant of each other, social media has exploded connecting people/generations like never before, entrepreneurism is alive & flourishing, exposure to the Internet has provided knowledge, entertainment, commerce & has changed how we conduct our lives in many cases.
It may not sound like it but I am an optimist. But I worry about the future of our country/society.

Very well said.
There is serious cause for concern.

Portland Maine has created a program that helps veterans and land lords.
Landlords place veterans who are homeless.the city gives 1500 in security and insures the conduct of the client to 5000 . the vet has a home the city doesn't have to pay hotel rates and the land lord is insured that if it was a wrong decision that it is cosT neutral. Then the landlord will be publicized as a person who took a chance with a homeless vet...
Spin that gato.your city doesn't offer it than petition they do.

It’s all so beautiful , and it’s rhetoric , not very unusual , but it’s humorous patheticness
music when an individual’s lips move , so soothing as a gentle kiss
then I maneuver in , in a mood that crushes fools who are spoon fed and delicate , and ruthlessly feud with them till a tomb is where they’re settled in
a derelict ,
a miscreant ,
very intelligent on various nightmares and instances where your perished instincts couldn’t exist to think
if your zest and zeal and effervescent attempts to bless and heal could somehow infiltrate the hierarchy’s hard armor
I’d be startled and call you marvelous , a revelation to your Deuteronomy
but I hasten to spew dishonesty and instead inflate , penetrating you as if you were punani slit
slipping and sliding ,
ripping your insides with little indifference who you gibing ?
if you haven’t understood yet …..well …..then , you’re a losing proposition
And don’t confuse it with lunacy that would be proving to be a nuisance and not suitable opposition……
BACK PATTING and KISSING threads are like passing HAM SANDWICHES around over and over-wall

Maybe we should put out some trail cams that work after datk.
Maybe a sign could help,
This cemetary is guarded by smith and wesson.
vandals will be shot survivors will be shot again
poltergeist will be exercised as needed.
As a cost related to the signal I ance a good trail cam that works after dark costs 400 with gen 4 night vision feature to repair a stone 1200 to replace in original marble 5000

Greed is destroying our country period. Wages don’t keep up with prices but the upper management takes tens of millions in bonuses without doing a thing. I retired early a few months ago after the company I worked for King Soopers gave the president a $32,400,000 bonus after we employees battled through Covid and rude self centered customers for the last year while we got $2 hour hero pay for a month? I refused to go through another holiday season after that and I didn’t miss it one bit.
