So, I had a decent run in the NCAA's, and request a payout. I receive a FedEx containing a Western Union Money order, and US Postal Service money order for the balance.
Of course, both money orders are blank, so I have to fill out the thing myself...the only data is the printed amounts in the denomination box.
I had requested a check.
This is all sorts of shady. Anybody ever cash one of these things out, or deposit it in the bank?

Print your name as purchaser and endorse the back. Way better than those ridiculous bank checks that take days to clear.
I called on the USPS money order, and it checks out as legit, not a counterfeit...
But I am a bit concerned about the western union money order....it isn't exactly chicken feed; what I am wondering, is why they didn't fill out the purchaser information themselves? why should I have to put my name on as the purchaser?
That doesn't wash with me.......If I sign the dammmm thing and it turns out to be a counterfeit doesn't that make me the fall guy?
At least a paper check can bounce and has their bank's name on it......not mine.

I had a book do that when I cashed out. It was a pleasant surprise.
Instead of being all suspicious, you should be happy. With all the issues books have with check processors right now, you don't want your check looking suspicious or bouncing because they tracked it to dirty sources.
You also don't have to worry about them spelling your name wrong or something.
It was safe for me because they sent them with signature confirmation. Just write in your name and it's as good as cash.

So, I ended up depositing the money orders in the bank with zero trouble.....the bank did not even feel the need to place a hold on the funds...they were immediately available.
Personally, this was my first experience ever with a money order as a payout method; I had reservations because I had asked for a check, and the Money orders were FedEx overnighted instead.
It was a pleasant surprise, to say the least. In the future, this may be a pretty good method of withdrawal.
