Anyway Im just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or wisdom they would share. It would be appreciated

That was his point, no one is in the market to buy $3-5 cards like you say you have. I don't really see any store, or individual collector, wanting 100 Roger Clemens (or anyone else for that matter) cards. You can't display them, they are going to sit in a box in their closet, they are basically worthless

EBay
Suicidekings51 nailed it
You can sell anything there if your not too concerned with the return. There's a collector for everything out there.
To a lesser degree you could try the beckett site, apparently you can sell on there now
I'm in the same boat and about to unload everything on Ebay for pennies to the dollar. Just get rid of everything. Might I also suggest pictures, people need to see what they are bidding on.

Gonna go with posts #13 and #16 here...they are your "best" options.
Ebay is the obvious, but unless you're looking to do one (or a few) very large lot...the fees are going to damper any real profit, making it pointless to do all the work. Selling a large box would be great, but then the postage rises sharply...and some of those same "prospective buyers" will run when they see a large shipping fee. It's a REAL expense, but people don't want to take it on... Just google ebay fees to see a better idea of what you'll face. I believe it's in the neighborhood of 12% of your sales, plus an additional fee when you paid.
Craigslist is the next best thing. It's completely free to list, you probably get paid in cash, and you don't have to ship a thing! It will cut down on the amount of attention you would attract on ebay, but if you can get someone ELSE to go through all the work of sorting/re-selling/etc, you have already won. Just remember to keep your asking price realistic...you would probably want to ask a little cheaper than if using ebay, since you don't have any fees bogging you down.
Otherwise, you go route 'B' and just keep them hidden away. Whether to pass along, or try to sell down the road as 'vintage'. Good luck!

the fees for selling on ebay will kill you. your best bet is to find and sell to a local dealer. check for hobby shops or comic book stores. they usually sell cards too

Until you get audited and have to prove the cards are worth what you deducted.

Wow. You can deduct "fair market value", which is NOT listed in Beckett.....
Just because you get away with it doesnt make it legit.
