To rehab? For alcohol? What is it like?

He was a young man with mighty handles and a wicked jumpshot 

stop and pop , didn’t need a pick , first step leave you stiff , dribble detrimental to your mental swish , even as a little kid he could dunk props

but it was weird how he needed a beer from dawn to down

he’d crawl around staggering in a stupor

year after year languishing and the truth hurts

he had a problem

he didnt react to rehab , tragedy , not a lot of fun 

it got worse , he abandoned family and friends , he couldn’t stop it

till one day his mother found him dead in the closet……

been 10 years since my friend passed…..

I had a buddy who went to rehab and found a girlfriend who had his bad habits. I could be wrong, but from what I've seen, the root cause is depression.

I'll agree depression is a big part of it but addiction is also a major part along with other factors . Personally I have tried A.A. and a couple other options out there but found that the only thing that has worked for me is perseverance and a real willingness to quit. I have a lot of experience in quitting ( smoking, drugs of all kind, and lastly alcohol ) . If you really want to quit then just do what works for you, try everything (you probably did when you were drinking ) just get ready because god knows it's not easy. But you can do it. Best of luck with what ever you decide, get yourself some good support and be prepared to make changes. But most of all remember there is always someone who will help you along . I hear you guys on all your stories & pain it causes you an more important your family . I have never been to rehab but have a cousin who has . Came out couldn’t beat it & found out almost 9 years now that he committed suicide . Was so hard on me an especially hard on his mom n dad my aunt n uncle who loved him so much . Anyway , I am a Alcoholic too . Have not touched it in 7 or 8 years now actually lost track ( and don’t even miss it at all ) I stopped cold turkey but a lot of ppl can’t and there’s a Ton of help & resources out there today for you . please try to stop or ask for help .

 I'm a recovering alcoholic.  Everybody is different.  I've never been to rehab and never felt like I ever needed it.  Do what you have to do, whatever it takes.  I wish you the best of luck.  

Research psilocybin.  Johns Hopkins has journaled over 60 peer reviewed papers on its success with depression / anxiety / addiction / ptsd / cluster headaches / etc.  83-85% success rate on a myriad of neurological issues.  Had a good friend with a 30+ year porn addiction …. psilocybin took care of the root causes, & intimacy returned with his wife.  Yale University recently released a study on frontal cortex healing.  Sounds too good to be true, but it’s been used for 1000’s of years.

He drank himself to death , liver and innards ravaged , disaster happens , trapped in hell his health

he had that look , and if you looked , you’d be shook , the most crookedest eyes

the atrocity to losing your body to a vodka bottle didn’t stop dont start

broken hearts

family and the misery 

the tragedy a travesty couldn’t imagine live in infamy

I known several work associates who have gone, some multiple times with mixed results. The ones that did the best attended AA meetings as needed and changed the life style in avoidance to not have a “ slip “ . One friend has been attending AA and GA meetings for 30 plus years to date and has really been successful as the owner of his dads body shop & Towing business that employs 14 people full time.....Is he happy ?? But he is straight and healthy

Depends if you’re paying cash and going to a nice place or getting a free bed. 

For alcohol they’ll just give you something like Librium. Sleep, eat shitty food, go to a few classes a day about alcoholism/addiction. 

Youll probably be with junkies … a lot of young kids. Maybe a couple guys from AA will come in and speak at night.

If you’re in trouble with your wife or work because of your drinking — or if you’ll start detoxing without alcohol I would recommend going and then going to AA. If you’re just going for you I would recommend just going to as many AA meetings as you can get to and skipping the rehab part.
