Anyone here open carry?

 Ever been hassled? Is it worth it or just better to CCW?
 I live in an open carry state but have never bothered to carry, other than just having it in my rig. I've seen vids of how people get harassed for it. I dismiss the idiots in videos that walk around looking for trouble but it seems that there are quite a few that are illegitimately detained.
 In this day & age, it does seem to put cops in a no-win situation. They know you have a right to carry open but they have no idea if you're a psycho or not. If someone calls them reporting there's a guy with a gun they pretty much have to respond.
 I'm thinking of just jumping through the hoops & getting a CCW permit. Thoughts? Anyone been hassled?

Beautiful thing about Arizona Mugg, I bought a gun 3 weeks ago, 5 mins to do the background check, no permit necessary at all to CCW. I just keep it in a carry bag. Will be taking a course in a couple weeks so I don't shoot my eye out...

 Not so easy up here. seven day wait period for bg check. I can carry open w/o any license/permit, & there is no "stop & ID" statute. But to get a CPL (what they call it here) I have to fill out a form, get finger printed, pay $50, & wait a month. But then I'm good in 25 states.
 I'm considering it because it covers a lot of bases. For instance, if I OC I still have to unload the gun once I'm in a car......unless I have the CPL. Plus I don't have to worry about where I can go as much.

I don't carry at all... but I plan to get a CCW just to have the option - but not yet

I dont need or want the attention........just want to be able to protecf myself in a worst-case scenario.

Too much of a hassle to open carry here in CT.  You will be detained and asked questions up the wazoo.  Usually ending my conversation with the Police something like, "I think I've answered all the pertinent personal questions I'd like to answer.  I respect your job and your concerns.  I'll be on my way now if you don't mind."  So after going through this a dozen times, CCW and permit is only way to travel for me.

Open carry imo gives you a major advantage but I see the point Goose is making. What a tremendous hassle to deal with questions everytime you cross paths with police.

The amount of stories/vids I've seen make me think the same. The uneducated public freaks out when they see someone carrying a gun & calls the cops.

Idiots for sure. Know enough that you're serious about carrying - do it M. The open site of a weapon to any thug/punk, psycho is intimidating and worth the possible routine questions from cops. Personally I would much prefer open carry if given a choice of the two permits. Open carriers win gun fights b4 they even happen, simple as that.
