Are you really prepared for emergencies?

I just seen a report on a local station here (WKBN Youngstown) about the Texas situation and I am still amazed at the LACK of preparation people have in regards to their overall situation. A guy from Texas was on the news and said "We are trying to get supplies from Amazon but the time slot for delivery is a week and a half out"  "They had an advance warning that the snow was coming, they should have been more prepared". I realize that Texas does not get snow like we do here in Ohio but the potential for tornadoes and floods exist there and how about self preservation? 

When I lived in California even the number of people not carrying an emergency kit in their cars in case of an earthquake or something else was astounding.

Buy one. And get the diesel engine model. You can used no 2 or kerosene Saudi it crude jet fuel as well as vegetable oil as well as diesel.

We have a hurricane room where we rotate out 5 cases of water. We store our flashlights, lanterns, a small ice maker, batteries, 2 propane tanks, battery operated radios, first aid kit, tarps/bungee cords, manual can opener, battery operated fans, towelettes/napkins/paper towels, aspirin/pain relievers, matches in a zip-lock bag. We also have a generator which was one of our best purchases ever.

We learned lessons after Hurricane Andrew in 92.

 Do you live in Youngstown?

Stump-Greetings! I was born in Canton, Ohio and live in a town south of there. WKBN out of Youngstown is the closest news channel to where I live so that's where I get my news from. I lived out in Portland where you are MANY years ago...128th and Division...REAL close to Gresham.

 Out in the numbers. That whole area is ghetto as shit now. Portland is going down the tubes, and it's not just rioters. I still love the area though I don't go into Portland proper a ton. We were there Saturday for a comedy show.

My wife used to live in Youngstown. We thought about moving there before settling in Oregon.

Stump-Portland, when I lived there...late 1997 to mid 1999 was REALLY nice. I spent MANY a days at the Rialto downtown betting the horses. It was also where I was baptized by video poker machines. The whole atmosphere has changed there, you are totally correct. 

Youngstown is a city right now that has been bruised and battered. Hopefully it can make it back. Losing the auto industry broke the place up...

 She's not a buckeye. She just lived there for a while. She's from the Bay Area like me. Yeah, the outer east side/numbers area is pretty fucked. The riots downtown this summer got all the airtime but the east side is where the violent crime is happening. Even Gresham. Gresham is cool the futher east you go near the foothills but all along Stark, Division, Burnside, ect.  Like from 60s clear into the 200s. Plus St Johns, and the black neighborhoods in the north. Shootings have been insane. And I grew up in Oakland in the 80s and 90s.
