Authorities Knocking on Your Door, regarding sports gambling.

I'm in Ohio, where sports gambling is illegal.  I listen to ESPN Cleveland 850am, talk radio, where once a week they have a tout, "Adam Winns", on for 10 minutes of airtime that he's obviously paid for to self advertise.  So, they're allowing a guy to advertise something that's an illegal activity.  So, I'm asking, at what point, should I be concerned that authorities would pursue me at my residence for sports gambling???

Never be worried they only arrest people operating illegal sport book operations within the us. they never go after the individual bettors  even tho it is illegal.. because they know there are prolly over 40 million people in america betting illegally each year.

Yes there are 50 and 60 year olds that cry like little bitches when they won't get their way.  Talk about mental cases, i find it a relief to draw pictures of baby huey and then show it to them.  

Anyways i don't see any problems unless the authorities are looking for a big time bookie taking bets that they know you had done business with.  In this case definitely cooperate because nothing will happen to you.  Bookies having business on U.S. soil is a great excuse for authorities to dip into taxpayers money that will stand too tall in the court of law.  For authorities to go after people betting on sports online?  No dip on that.

"Authorities" can knock on my door all they want.  Without a warrant, they're not coming inside.  They can also talk all they wish.  It's going to be a one-sided conversation.

It amazes me how people feel compelled to invite "authorities" into their homes and spill their guts in conversation.  Must be watching too much television.

And it never hurts to have your weapons loaded and pointed at said door where the threat is coming from.

If you find any statute (state, fed or local) that explicitly calls out gambling as being illegal, then you might worry some.

You won't find it

It is illegal here.  I believe we have state statutes or laws regarding gaming, totally prohibited.  When cruise ships come in, they are not allowed to do any gaming while in port.  Any gaming is not allowed  although much goes on illegally like cock fighting, sports betting, etc.  I believe socialized gaming such as poker games in your own dwelling is not prohibited as to bingo for fund raising etc.  On line is also illegal here.  All we do is fly to LV and give our money to them.  Stupid law makers should legalize for more tax revenue.  Maybe not allow residents but let tourists play.  We would have more jobs and would help our economy.

But honestly, if they had anything against anyone they would get a warrant and kick your door down.

Relax, it is NOT against the law to place a bet. It IS against the law to take a bet. If your not a bookie your not breaking the law, period.

Kicked my door in last week at 5:30am with a search warrant. Went through everything and found my USC -7.5 printout. Was arrested for being a stupid idiot moron. Did 5 days in LA County.

A buddy of mine in Ohio told me that he was told that he is not breaking any laws because he has lost more money than he has won (he is not a bookie, he wagers).  Don't know if it's true but...
