So I watched previews and definitely became interested, thought it definitely would be a nice change of pace from Call of Duty and was looking forward to the switch.
So I downloaded the Beta and have played it a few times now, and I have to say I am not impressed. I do like how huge the worlds are but the game play and graphics just seem sub-par, even the sound quality wasn't impressive. I think shooting a gun in real life is easier then it is in this game. Everything just seemed hectic and I barely had an idea of what was going on. I kept hearing about this "team play" concept from other people who played Battlefield and I just didn't see it, everyone seemed to be out for themselves.
Is the Beta an honest look at the franchise or is this actual game much different? If the beta is typical of Battlefield then I think I might just stick with Call of Duty.
What do you guys think about this beta for Battlefield 3?

Dther85, I 100% agree with you. I was getting tired of the COD experience and was looking forward to Battlefield 3. Then, I played the beta version for a couple of days ( about 3 hours worth), it actually really sucks. The weapons suck, aiming/shooting sucks, the graphics are sub par; it actually made me appreciate COD more. I'm sure planes, helicopters and tanks might be cool, but the " soildering" was pretty bad. I felt like I was playing a PS2 game.

I have always found battlefield hectic.. It's just the way the game is. Generally speaking, when it comes to the battlefield series, the graphics are on par but the story is horrible and generic, the maps are average, and the way online play is structured is inferior to Call of Duty. I would say you should stick to COD until the price of battlefield goes down if you have to have it. I think you'll find the campaign (however it turns out to be) isn't worth finishing and the online play gets really old after the first few minutes.

The graphics are not the greatest but it makes up for it in gameplay.....wait until the maps with tanks, choppers, 4 wheelers, sea-doo's, fighter jets, jeeps etc.... Oh and the entire map is destructable......enough said!!!

It is way different than call of duty. I don't think the beta is doing battlefield much justice. The "teamplay" aspect of battlefield is at it's best when you are using the vehicles. Also, the weapons that are in the beta are crap and they are likely the weapons you start out with. As you rank up you get better weapons. Being able to collapse an entire building with C4 or a tank is awesome!! However, the prob seems to be everyone wants to be a sniper and it can really slow down gameplay and make the matches very long.
