Does anyone know the process of becoming one? I'm thinking of pursuing a career in casino table gaming. Where would be a great place to get some training? Will it be easy to get hired?

You have to go to dealer school and then pay your dues working at Circus Circus and Slots of Fun to get experience. It helps to develop a coke habit and practice passive aggressively hustling people for tips.

Avoid dealing craps. I would deal craps in little home games and it absolutely sucks. I am pretty good at math and that game is a big headache to deal. Trying to keep track of where all the bets are and who has come bets, place bets, etc. huge pain in the behind

Here is the deal assuming you are in LV. Go to dealer school usually around $300 and learn only Blackjack. They will try to offer you roulette and etc., but no break in joint is going to let you deal Roulette or audition on roulette anyways. Just learn how to pitch the cards and deal out of a shoe. Try and find someone who knows what is going on and just split off from the other people and deal one on one to them. After 4 days you should have it down enough. If you are a decent looking person go to Gold Coast, Suncoast, wear black pants and a white dress shirt and ask a boss for an audition. Trust me he will know what you are there for, before you even open your mouth. Also, have an application filled out online prior to going there. If that doesn't work go to a few downtown properties.
Once you start you will only deal 21, for weeks. Take the initiative to learn the carnival games and spinoff 21 games on your own. So, when every other dealer goes down for a 20 minute break ask the boss if you can watch Super Fun 21 or Spanish 21. Once you understand the nuances of the game on ask if you can deal it on your break. The dealer will now stand behind you and watch you deal it. Once you have it down, you will tell the scheduler you are ready to be put on the game.
Next, do the same with baccarat and Pai Gow Poker. That is how you learn all the games and you don't need to pay some shitty school. The only time you may decide to attend a school is for Pai Gow tiles. It is a rare game and requires a ton of studying. If you know how to deal and that is in your arsenal, you can walk into Venetian, Mirage and etc and basically write your own ticket.
Also, forget the other dealers teasing you for trying to learn other games. Most are losers and will be there dealing 21, 5 years from when you start.
I started at Gold Coast and the dealers used to tease me for trying to learn baccarat and the other games. I used to tell them baccarat will get me somewhere else. After 9 months I was promoted to a Floor, because I was so good at baccarat. Shortly after a guy from the Palms came over one day and told me they are hiring. I interviewed and was across the street in a suit in less than a year. All the dealers found out it was my last week and were begging me for an interview or remember me, etc. etc. I would just laugh and tell them you only know 21!!!!!!!!!!

Not enough. Standing on your feet all day, people blowing smoke in your face, cursing at you because you gave them the wrong card and you can't break a sixteen. Dealer suicide rates are high. No joke.

Are you short, Asian, born in a weird place nobody's ever heard of, have ZERO personality, smell bad, get pissed off when the "White" (or Black, or Hispanic, seen it happen, equal opportunity a$$hole) orders a drink and (God forbid) halts the fukking machine-like deal for two fukking seconds, DON'T engage in conversation, deal the fukking cards like a robot, and don't even help the "newbies" on how to play the game?
Then you're PERFECT for downtown and the "Off The Strip" casinos where nobody tips and nobody expects a tip......

To be a dealer long term. Buy the training. And deal from a shoot. It was 150 when I was around Vegas and you have to be bondable. ( meaning an insurance company has to be able insure you won't steal money)
You need to proficient with the game and understand you were the middle man you represent the company the player and are the fiirst layer to all parties so every what's on you the players the pit bosses the waitresses even the attendants cause if you are good and make people feel good win or lose put em on the roller coaster and allow them time to buying again you can make fifty an hour just in tips.
But the super sensitive don't last. Those that have to shuffle every hands break down with carpral tunnel syndrome and the thieves get gone and stay gonnew... Good luck sir with all your dreams just a word to the wise.

Typically minimum wage to start from the casino. The Bureau of Labor lists the average annual salary at $14,700. The average dealer will then make apprx. 2.5X that amount in tips, bringing the actual annual income to around $35,000.

I did and will take in consideration. I have 10 days to cancel.
Aren't you the guy that lost all of his sports bankroll to internet casinos,then wanted to learn how to stop gambling,then wanted to take a 10k loan because you hit 55%over some period,and now you want to be a grunt as a dealer in a casino.
You seem to have a limited view as to your life's work and anytime you take anything in consideration,it's fleeting.
The only lessons you truly learn are those you pay for one way or another.

Also, learn Pai Gow Tiles and Baccarat. It gives you the most possibilities by knowing those games.
If you do go to Vegas, do not expect to get hired in a high end place like The Wynn, Belagio, Caesar's Palace, etc. You would have to get it into a break in place. I would suggest doing that, get your experience, then move into the mid tiered place after about a year, then progressively moving into higher end places. But the bottom line is, it is extremely difficult for even the seasoned, experienced dealers to get into those places. There's a reason why the dealers at the aforementioned joints don't leave.
