Betting small after going large

Anyone have problem betting small after going large?  Like rush don't do it for you and want to win more and more?  I try to tell myself slow and steady and it's a marathon not a sprint. A bad streak with going large will kill the roll.

There are several factors that need to be addressed:

I'm guessing here, but are you talking about betting small after a large WIN?

Also, assuming you're betting the same sport. Very few people would jump from an NBA game to throw a number on a Kershaw start using the same bankroll/bet. I mean, we all have strengths and weaknesses.  I've yet to meet a bettor that has ever told me "You know? I'm just as good at football as I am with NBA....or MLB......or NFL" Separate sports require separate funds/accounts. That's just me.

You can't get anywhere using static betting. By "static" I mean repeating the same bet over and over, no matter the amount. If you're at a blackjack table, and you bet $5 EVERY BET, you'll find out real quick.

If you're on a win streak, your bets should increase by a set increment. As an example, you bet $150, and win $150. Say your incremental increase is 10%. Your next bet is $165. You win. 10% of that would be $16.50. At table, you probably don't bet $181.50. You'd bet $180 or $185. Online, you can follow more closely.

It's a common sense thing. Bet bigger when you win, smaller when you lose. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response The Hawk. 

Years back I won a 2 dime bet and someone told me be careful once you bet big it's hard to go back to going smaller.  I have bet smaller since then and definitely bigger than that. I have had big wins and losses. The ups and downs. The past few years I have done well overall in multiple sports.  After having good weeks building the roll and collecting a nice stack it's like I want to win big or nothing. Winning a dime at the end of the week is like blah after winning over 10 whether on sports or at casino. After betting a nickel or dime on a hand of blackjack and then going back to playing $10 hands is hard for me to do. Not same rush. Same with sports like having 5 dimes on a game then putting a nickel on it is like blah. 

I'm not rich by any means just have had success which built my roll and allowed me to bet more and chase if need be. I know it's not good money management and a bad streak would kill my roll. 

Part of me is like runaway from it and keep your winnings especially how hard it is to do. The other part of me doesn't want to because of the rush from it. 

Maybe a nice break from things would allow me to go back to playing $100 a game and be happy hitting or will I be thinking that I should've had 5 dimes on it. 

I try to tell myself that if can win $100 a week on average that's 5k free $ over the year. But when have won that on a game it's not that appealing. 

Anyone been in this situation?

Try to increase your bankroll by 3-4% every week.  If you can do this, you won't ever have to work again and you'll make more money than 99.99% of the population.

Couldn't agree more with the Hawks post. There is a lot of talk on this forum about always betting 2% of your bankroll or some nonsense. Look I'm no spring chicken, I've been doing this for a while now, you have to ride the hot hand.

When I was younger a man told me at the blackjack table you have to hit your double downs and splits or else you'll just tread water and eventually drown. Always increase your bets on a hot shoe.

I'm all for bankroll management, but picking good spots to go big is key.

Unless you are counting cards or know you have an advantage this is total superstition.  Just like everyone rushes to a hot craps table.  The dice don't remember what they just did

YOU can't consistently win at blackjack without counting cards.  There are a few select people I'm sure that do, but they are rare.  I've only been playing the game and studying it for about 5-6 years, but I would tell anybody to know basic strategy.  That, I'll always believe, is paramount.  If you stray from basic strategy consistently, you will lose more often than you will win.  It's really that simple.

These people that say they can "feel the cards" and stand on 16 half the time... I don't believe them.  The fact is, you'll lose fewer times if you hit the 16.  You'll usually lose anyways, but if you don't hit it, you'll win fewer hands.

I was trolled once for hitting a soft 18 against a dealer 10.  The troll didn't realize that's the correct play.  I hate trolls.  They're stupid.

And if you don't double down and split when you're supposed to, you're giving money away.  Blackjack is just like any other game in that the casinos make millions off the people that don't know how to play.  And they're everywhere.

Unless you are a card counter, how other players play should not affect what you do. Basic strategy players should stick to the basic strategy no matter how badly the other players play. I asked  dealer one time in Vegas ..Who is it that wins the money on these black jack tables?

He told me ...it was the guy who didn't have a set amount bet..the ones that would bet $20 then $100 and then back to a low amount like $10 ...

So I said.. they had a system then.

He said.. No ,they were drunk.

I won my most amount playing blackjack when boozed up. Changed my bets time to time and usually hit the big ones.  The booze makes it easier to make those big bets and dealing with it when losing.

If you bet for the adrenalin rush you get when you win or have action, then you will always need to bet more to get the same rush.

If you bet strictly to profit, then the game/line will determine your bet amount.

I bet for the rush and nice making some extra cash time to time. My prob is after betting really big on select games it's hard when betting smaller. I know it's bad money management. Same at blackjack table betting 10$ hands after betting a thousand a hand. I'm hoping a break will allow me to get back to playing smaller and use better money management.

I usually play blackjack flat betting $25 and doubling when the book says and find it is a grind and never win significant money end up winning or losing chump change.

And it is never FREE/HOUSE money. Your grind and earn it you have to take care of it son
