how is this not a huge deal. why aren't jackson and sharpton, or at least scalabrine, and whoever else pretends to give a shit about black people up in arms over this? these percentages are amazing to me.
some of these detroit students should move to somalia or north korea, where i hear the graduation rates are higher
i would agree that single parent households with no dad around and a mom who is either a shitty parent or has to work 2 jobs to support her 4 kids and can't be around is a huge factor, probably the biggest factor. but these numbers are so outrageous, i'm sure there are several more key factors involved.

I understand Detroit is a complete shithole, but the above numbers are just eye popping. 
Don't get me wrong, its not like a high school diploma is worth anything these days, but for the most part its a good start.
