how is this not a huge deal. why aren't jackson and sharpton, or at least scalabrine, and whoever else pretends to give a shit about black people up in arms over this? these percentages are amazing to me.
some of these detroit students should move to somalia or north korea, where i hear the graduation rates are higher

just my opinion, but there's not a lot of parents who raise their children like when i was that age. Speaking of all races for that matter. You can also factor in one parent households imo as well. Drop them off at the shopping malls and do your thing

Their solution will be to make it easier for blacks to graduate, further dumbing down of America, and yet another avoidance of black accountability for their own difficulties.

i would agree that single parent households with no dad around and a mom who is either a shitty parent or has to work 2 jobs to support her 4 kids and can't be around is a huge factor, probably the biggest factor. but these numbers are so outrageous, i'm sure there are several more key factors involved.

i know the ultra liberals don't like to hear this but culture has to play a big part of it as well. if you value hard work, school, etc, it's going to have an impact. our government, as usual, doesn't help with poorly executed entitlement programs.

The situation is a whole lot more complicated with many facets involved than a simple statistic of an ethnic group not doing well in school.
Sheeesh!!!
No one is this uninformed about all the 2-3 dozen resons for this, are they?
Not everyone gets born white in a midwestern suburb where they always have quality teachers, learning supplies, and accountability for the educational staff like I was fortunate to just be born into. Had it been the other way around, I'd have never gone to college, and maybe be in prison right now looking for ways to get out of bad situations.
My whole education was built arounfd sgrict enforcement of quality teachers jamming getting through the educational process down my throat.
It's not the same, obviously in poorer school systems.....They don't give a shit.......
Oh yeah, I was also quite fortunate with a good family structure,,,,,(that I was born into luck of the draw)
I guess that's about 3-4 out of the 2-3 dozen reasons...........

Affirmative action will kick in at some point (be thankful that theres not many Micronesians around, i think only 10% have ever seen a school, much less attended one).
