Bookie question to covers...

Ok so here is the story...

I place my bets through a local and a few of my friends do aswell, so the one friend lost 2,500 last week and is good for the money no questions asked... He has paid that in the past without a problem, so now this week which started today he is already up $1,200 and will cont to bet the rest of the week... So he called me tonight and asked if he got up around 2.000 in the next day or two could he just give the local 500 and stop for the week... I guess it doesn't really matter doing that and the local may not care at all, but I wanted to find out what you guys thought...  Thanks

No way. Got to pay what ya owe. If the situation was reversed your boy would want paid in full.

I think if he was going to do that he would be better off "having an emergency and have to leave town for a week" and not bet.

CVomes out the same way but doesnt spook the locval that  your  buddy may not have the money

I am asking this because Im the one that has to ask the question to the local for this guy... Didn't wanna look or sound stupid.

Tob- very true, but if he was owed the money he would still be betting, wouldn't stop so that wouldnt be an issue...But if he was up 2500 and started betting this week and lost 500 on monday and said im done for the week you only owe me 2000, you think the local would say no i will give you the 2500 and wait for your 500 the following week??? don't think so

 

Tob- He also paid this local $11,000 in Jan, I think any book would be nice to this guy!! Wouldn't you???

i dont see what the problem is... if your bookie collects on one day out of the week all debts/profits are dealt with on that day not midweek. if your buddy is down 2500 last week and is up 2000 as of today...well maybe tomorrow he loses that 2000, he is still down...

If I was asked that question no matter the previous situation. I would start thinking this guy or guys are going bad. Any deviation in betting or payment means one thing. Bettor is going broke.

Pretty much what I was saying in post 3.
I wouldn't ask the wquestion, I would just tell him I had an emergency out of town and not bet till next week. Also not go to local hangs where the guy might see me

it is not a good sign. Of course if the guy lost a lot a few months ago that may change things, every situation is different. So he could cut him a break. (if it's me I'd say pay me $1500 and we'll figure  out things next week,and it's very likely the guy would owe next week also) But if the bookie agrees to carry over everything then it opens a whole new can of worms, before you know it guys will be pulling all kinds of angles like this and he will never get paid, only  have to pay out

not a good idea. pay what you lost last week, what you're up this week, is this week. Keep it clean and simple. your bookie will say no and you will burn a bridge of trust.

Keep is simple

Simply ask should be a non issue if the guy is regular player.If the book starts crying then pay him and just get it back next week, the only situation for the book that might make it uncomfotable would be if he got killed that week and had huge pay outs for the week and needed to roll the cash over but  most books are not to excitable over a few k. should be popcorn change to a established book, now 11k would be a different story

Ok so here is the deal, might be a little different and also I am starting to think this guy might not have the money, so let me know what you think

He lost ($1800) last week is what the total ended up being and as hard as it is to believe he is already up ($2100) in 2 days... LOL unreal... He said to just wash it and he will stop for the week. So the bookie would save 300 if he did it. Do you think this makes any difference? Or should I just say fuck it, you have to pay me and we can figure it out next week??? Thanks again guys

It screams I don't have the money if he's willing to just give an extra 300.  Pay the book and collect next week.  Keeps things simple.  Weeks end on Sunday, not Tuesdays I'm assuming...

Yeah week ends on Sunday and he collects Saturday... So It really wouldn't make a huge difference paying him Saturday and the week ends the following day... Like I said I just didnt wanna look or sound stupid if I asked this question... Thanks for the help
