As it stands right this second, there will be at least two major initiatives this fall:
- one which gives the tribes sole control over California sportsbetting, as bets would only be allowed to be placed at tribal casinos (have heard the tribes may withdraw this from the ballot)
- a mobile sportsbetting one which gives the tribes a piece of the action, and any gaming company who wants to put up $100m fee for a license (MGM, DK). Money from this will go to affordable housing for homeless people. The tribes oppose this one because they want to preserve their monopoly over California gambling.
The second one is the one I’ll be voting for. I don’t trust the tribes to do us right, especially after the brick and mortar tribe casinos killed every online poker and online sportsbetting proposal in California during the last 10 years. Do something like that, you don’t deserve a monopoly.

Yes, good job by the Tribes learning our best virtues like GREED.. hypocrites.. they’ve paid little or no taxes except because of Arnold..notice they started the endless commercials recency then cut back.. like who’s going to drive 90 miles from LA to place sports bets? I’d only do so to bet on the Chiefs and Cleveland Indians

the funny thing is they actively killed every sportsbetting and poker bill the last decade with threats of "we will launcuh a campaign against you and primary you." now MGM forced them to act and they got caught with their pantsy down, they originally had 2 ballot initiatives then had to sack one. heck they may sack both in an effort to kill the MGM ballot initiative.
MGM and DraftKings have us gamblers' interests at heart. These two bit NA casinos - heck, I've given them countless chances - but they just won't give us a fair shake. These are the same people who won't let us spin a roulette wheel with a ball in CA lol, or tell poker players like myself that last call just happened then bring their blasted local a beer an hour later. I hope the voters see through the smoke and vohte for MGM/DK this fall, the tribes have failed us and don't deserve a 11th chance to get it right
