Ohio recently approved casino gaming, I was talking to a fellow covers brother (Big props to the Degenerate) here in toledo & we were considering looking into becoming dealers. My question is (and it may be obvious) if you work for the casino is it frowned upon to gamble there? I assume it probably is, conflict of interest? What about family, friends?
Any info would be appreciated
Thanks guys

Most casino's don't allow you to gamble there if you deal there (not including poker) because they teach you how the cheaters operate, in order to be able to detect them.

In So Cal, I know for sure at least several confirmed casinos you can play there even if you work there. In LA county- you aren't playing against the house so maybe that could be the difference.

Also, I thought that is what casino's love doing- they give you your paycheck and then you give it all back to the casino in losses. You keep your tips for the bills of course.

Thanks tjohnsont, I have more of an interest in playing than working and was just curious. Maybe I should take a field trip up the road to detroit and do some research

In LA county at some casinos- they have house players. They will pay you a certain hourly wage for you to play. You play with your own money. Maybe that is what you are looking for. No license required either unlike a dealer license.

I think it differs from place to place. In Canada if you work at the casino you cant play there at all, none of your family members can play at tables your dealing at, and theres lots of strict rules. But in Michigan you can play at the casino you work at, and most do. When lots of the poker dealers there arent working, they are still there at the poker pit playing there and slamming back beers. But the Canadian casino is run by the Ontario government, and the Michigan casino is on Indian land.

in IL def (& pretty sure IN too), you cant gamble where you get your pay check. your family can still gamble there, they just cant participate in the big prize promotions. if they win a promotion, they cant keep it. IL does a very long background check & hair test for drugs .. not just piss. casinos diff from location to location on unions.
worked HR for a casino for a little while. was very interesting job, but crap pay, benefits, & vacation.

I work for a casino here in Detroit, we cannot gamble at our place of employment, but the rules are different all over the country. Most likely it will be determined by the gaming commission in Ohio. I'd be willing to bet that you won't be able to gamble where you work.

In FL you can't play at the casino you work in ( at least for the Seminole Indian Casinos; like the Hard Rock Tampa or in Holywood, FL etc.)
A dealer told me he cant play where he works at ( the casino I go to is the Seminole Indian Casino in Immokalee, FL ) but he can play at any of the other Seminole Indian Casinos
