He was in the middle of the Hey Day of the Heavy Weight Division in the 70's and was basically a prelim fight for Ali. We'll never see the likes of these Heavy Weight fighters again..Frazier.. Foreman.. Norton..Shavers..Jimmy Young..Jerry Quarry.. Oscar Bonavina as far as 70's Boxing goes. i remember when Boxing was on ABC on Saturday afternoons either during or after Wide World Of Sports. Always had Sugar Ray. Ali..etc.
I don't know if there is a fighter that has lived longer than Him other than Jake LaMotta who lived
to 95 and passed in 2017?!!!.has there been a Fighter who has lived longer that has taken all those beatings?

Back in the 70's in Sea Girt NJ on the Shore, there was a nightclub (Jimmy Byrne's Sea Girt Inn) that would be packed to the gills on weekends...Chuck Wepner was kind of a regular and he was the only male that could wear a hat in the place as it would start fights for some reason back then..The guys who directed car parking were buddies of mine and he always had a spot reserved..
I also remember Saturday fights..One day in AC my buddy met up with a hooker and gave me his ticket for Evangelista vs Michael Spinks at Resorts casino...Joe freaking Lewis was ringside and stood up to acknowledge the crowd..So cool to take in the atmosphere of a fight in person, the sweat flying with punches, the ring girls, the tv cameras..wow
Thanks for bringing this up Lennon
