I was a frequent poster on the Chowhound Los Angeles restaurant review website until Google asked (or forced) it to update it with snazzy graphics. The loading time skyrocketed to the point that the public got fed up and most posters (including yours not so truly) migrated to the Food Talk Central website which is relatively low-tech.
The Chowhound website is now basically defunct. I just checked and it had one post in the last 18 hours. With page views plummeting so has Google's ad revenue.
The Covers owners and moderators are hellbent on making the same disastrous decision. I fervently hope they change their alleged minds.

Well, for whatever its worth, they did care when they first implemented the new forum, because of the immense backlash, otherwise we wouldn't have had the option to switch to the old format, til now.
I was one of many, who asked for the old format back and I still want the old format to stay! Unfortunately, it seems that whoever owns Covers has made the decision, to get rid of the old format. While i understand the need to keep up with progress and all, the new format is horrendous, as opposed to the old one, if that weren't the case, you wouldn't have a thread like this and so many users voicing their disliking, most of them daily users and contributors to the forum.
The differences between the old forum and the new one are uncanny, its not that I hate the new format, I thoroughly despise it, the colors, the fonts, everything about it makes it hard to look at it and navigate it.
I wish our feedback could make a difference, as it did the 1st time, but I'm afraid it wont count this time around, which is a pity, since the strength of Covers lies in the quality of its members...

Email notifications. Get notified when someone you're following makes a post or creates a thread. Editing. The ability to edit your posts after they’ve been made. Search functionality. An improved search experience so you can find what you’re looking for ================ Lol at not wanting the forum to leave 1982 style forum. These are basic updates it's needed for years. The only way to get them to care is if people stop using the site. And while users do come and go, addicted gamblers are the easiest people to keep as customers, and they KNOW that.
I wouldn't care except they still can't sort out the stupid invalid recaptcha error you get when you try to make a thread, despite the fact that THERE IS NO F*CKING RECAPTCHA ON THE SCREEN TO VERIFY.
The new forum is about as succesful as the Covers Experts were with their picks this year. But unless we boycott it, nothing will happen. I definitely use the site less than I used to because of the dumb recaptcha thing and the other problems with the new forum.
The only way to get past the recaptcha thing is to resubmit the thread. If you try to resubmit too early it gives you an error message telling you you are making too many attempts in too short a time. And even the error message has an error in it, it says 'Take me back to fourums' or something instead of forums.
They are literally an online forum who can't spell forum. friggin joke.
