Does anyone here still watch Saturday Night Live?

Of course there were great cast members well before that which I can't speak to outside of youtube.

But now?

I seriously haven't watched an entire show in some 15 years. What an awful spectacle of alleged comedy.

Mily Cyrus hosting? She's funny?

Lady Gaga hosting? She's funny?

Outside of an awful cast, since when does celebrities who are known for drama, or Broadway, or music, or reality TV allow you to do comedy for an 1.5 hours?

They read off cue cards for god's sake and are as stiff as them to boot.

Does anyone stay up to watch this show on a regular basis?

Do you laugh more than once if you do (or even once)?

How is it still on TV?

The only reason I can think of is that you literally can only air an infomercial for spray on hair (an actual product, I'm serious) to lower ratings at a broadcast time like this so it survives by default.

Watched it here in Argentina last night because it was the only thing on. Horrible as usual.

Don't watch it anymore but used to watch it all the time.

I was very young when the show started but I remember staying up late watching Chevy Chase do Weekend Update.

In the 90's when I was in my teens and early twenties me and my friends wouldn't go out on Saturday night until the halfway point of the show. That is usually when the musical guest sings their first song and the skits start drying up.

I couldn't tell you who's on the show now.

Saturday Night Live was really good way bay. I watched 1 episode in the last 10 years. I don't see how they have kept going this long.

Though it was bad last night with John Goodman and this season is a restarting one for SNL with the high turnover.  So this year won't be as good as the last few.

I haven't heard someone mention this show in decades.  I can't believe it's still on the air.

Last night's was painfully bad.  I want my hour back.  Next week should be good though with Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake.  Say what you want about his music, but Timberlake is a funny dude.  I think he'd actually be the best cast member on that show.  And he and Fallon are a good team.

Agree with you on Timberlacke and next week's show should be a good one.  Though I am not a huge fan of his music, the guy is talented.

Keenan Thompson's, "What's Up With That?", is pretty funny.  You can find alot of it on Hulu.  It's a twist on talk shows, and the agendas that celebrities bring.  They never really get around to what they want to plug because all this wacky stuff keeps happening.

Yes, I forgot Bill Murray from back in the day. Absolutely love that guy. 

Not into all the artsy stuff he does now (Lost in Translation) because comedy is this guy's true calling.

Anyone realize how some great comedians always gravitate to drama/serious roles later in their careers (i.e. Jim Carrey)? 

Only Jerry went back to his roots with standup and left one of the most popular shows of all time to do so. I applaud him for that.

There have been a few funny moments, but it's all about trying to find the next big thing rather than keeping their sure things.

Tom Hanks was great as 'mr forgettable guy' he did the skit a few times..Gotta love the musical acts back in the day..Would have never heard Living Color if not for SNL and others.

Friday night was also pretty good,Kramer's (real name I forget too lazy to look up) and Jim Carrey as new comedians..The pharmacy skits were pretty good.

Timberlake does a hell of a job when he hosts. Hes got good timing and is pretty funny.

The show of course isnt as good as it used to be, simply because there are waaaay more avenues for comedy. In the 80s there wasnt tivo and redbox and on demand, not to mention that time slot is pretty dead. The greats made the show, and its near impossble to follow in those footsteps. also hard to keep coming up with funny skits after 30+ years.

It still has its niche, with the guests hosts and musical performers. Overall it gets a bad rap due to its predecessors.
