I guess this ruling is a beginning, but very unhappy about the "exceptions" see below. These folks in Washington DC are nothing but corrupt.

The court ruled to strike down the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PAPSA), a 1992 law that barred state-authorized sports gambling with some exceptions. It made Nevada the only state where a person could wager on the results of a single game.

PASPA was also known as The Bradley Bill. The irony in all this is that New Jersey led the fight against PASPA. Bill Bradley sponsored PASPA in 1992, he was a senator from New Jersey.

not to be negative on such a great day for degenerates, but that&#x27;s not what the supreme court ruled.  in fact, they said the opposite.  the ruling said the federal government can regulate sports betting.  what it can&#x27;t do is what it was doing with this law NJ challenged which is force the states to ban gambling.  also, this doesn&#x27;t legalize sports betting, as far as i can tell.  it says congress cannot force states to ban it.  so, things can go a few different ways now.  one, any state can legalize it if they want, but they actually have to take steps in their respective legislatures to do it.   or, any state can ban it which would make it illegal in that state.  or any state can just do nothing which would mean gambling is illegal in those states until the state proactively makes it legal.and of course congress can probably ban it or regulate it which would create a big fight and more legal action between the federal government and the states that have legalized it. i doubt congress would try to ban it as it would not be worth the fight.  they might try to regulate it.  who knows with the corrupt fool we have in government these days.disclaimer: i haven&#x27;t read the opinion yet so my analysis is subject to change depending on that.  i&#x27;m basing these comments on a couple of articles i&#x27;ve read quoting the opinion.

as for the pinnacles and other internet books of the world, they can't just open their websites up to the american market, because, as i mentioned, this ruling does not make gambling legal in the U.S.. i suppose they could open their websites up to the particular states as they become legal if they want to do that. of course, there may be other issues/laws with offshore books that i'm not aware of since i haven't really looked into that.

yes zebra, i agree with that. the decision doesn't legalize gambling; it allows the states to legalize gambling if they choose.

do you know which 18 states have already taken steps to legalize gambling?
