So I've got an appointment and figure 2 hours is plenty. Go over to the buy parking ticket machine and purchase 2 hours for $2 with my debit card and leave the ticket on top of my dashboard.
Come out an hour and a half later and some cheap hot-shot was trying to save $1 by not buying a parking ticket and so they were hauling away his Porsche Carrera!!! What a stupid idiot. LMAO

Cities are finally beginning to smarten up. Nobody pays parking tickets. Much more lucrative to tow NICE cars that people will reclaim quickly. Leave the 1990 Honda and grab the Porsche.

Asbury Park has a parking app now. No need to put the ticket in the window. Just enter your license plate and I think spot number. Need more time just dial up the app. Probably has a 10 minute warning built in. If not, it should.
Not that I'm a fan of parking meters but this hits the nail on the head.

Jeez Goggles you just brought back some memories of Asbury...Is the run-down downtown all fancy and garbage now? Have not seen it in 20 years..wondering where the welfare folks live now around the Berkley Carteret area? Still the same ghetto? or maybe/hopefully they are occupying Ocean Grove? Boy what a fucked up city that was when I was arrested there for weed...some guy sued them to the Supreme Court to drive in there on a Sunday to deliver newspapers. They had their own religious police at the time that Neptune took over I belive…
We get busted smoking a joint and the friggin police chief's wife is in the room shaking her finger at us saying you druggies are bad bad bad..HAHA.(This was outside a Seals and Crofts concert in the convention center they had, only way concert was approved was because S+C had some anti-abortion radio hit)
As we were getting resolved, the cops bring in others...about a year later I recognize one of the kids outside at concert in Jersey City and ask if he got busted in OG and we laugh our fools off telling the stories of how it all ended up etc..
Sorry to get the thread off-trak but it isn't exactly busy here haha

James it's the "in" place to go just stay on the east side of the tracks. Everything that was got pushed west. It's all high price condos, lots of great resturants, some hotels and shopping if you're into that. Stone Pony and Wonderbar somehow survived the disaster Asbury once was to live large another day. I never thought this could happen but it did.
3 day music festival. This place is just getting started. Must make Atlantic City jealous.

So in San Francisco they have huge conventions for these tech companies. The largest of these have concerts for the attendees. And there are shuttles to ferry attendees to said concerts. I once saw them drop of a temp parking permit sign, pole in bucket of concrete temp, in front of what was normally motorcycle parking turning it into shuttle pick-up. There were already a line of bikes parked there when they dropped the sign off. They towed every one. Unbeknownst to me at the time, a colleague had a bike parked there. He was at the yard before the bike even got there. Over 400 bucks.

He went straight to the yard. It was like 4 o'clock and he didn't want to have to pay a second day. Each day was over a hundred. Never asked him about it down the line to see if he got his money back. The city forgot to put the sign out, people parked, they towed. Easier to deal with 10 working stiffs than some huge company (Oracle) who paid you to block of a street and you didn't.
