I have watched the video a number of times, and to me it appears that the woman was only trying to save herself, and in the process of trying to get out of the way she shielded the boy from direct impact.
I feel bad for the woman because she was clearly whacked hard by the car and suffered injuries, but I see nothing heroic in her actions.

This woman is being hailed as a hero for throwing herself in front of a car to save a young boy ...

Hugh, I can see how to the untrained eye that this woman is not a hero. But, she was clearly trying to clear a path to lead everyone to safety. Same misunderstanding happened to this poor schmuck in this video:

See it exactly the same way.

God, you right-wing Trump types are cynical. And i'm convinced that you all are only trying to discredit her because she's black. Who tries to save themselves by running towards a car? By running essentially into a corner? She was already more or less clear of the car. No reason to put herself in the position she was to "save herself".

I'm confident that not a single "right-wing Trump type" has commented in this thread.
As for your saying that anyone is trying to discredit her "because she is black" ... only suggests that you are a typical liberal, manifesting racism in your own head and then trying to project it onto others in an effort to make yourself feel superior.
Now back to the video ... if you believe that she was attempting to protect that boy, then that is your interpretation. Personally, if I am going to protect someone from danger I would think I'd turn my body towards them in a reflective effort to shield them from harm.
The woman in question was clearly attempting to get out of the way.
Your stating that she was "already more or less clear of the car" is a broad assumption on your part, as nothing in that video remotely suggest that to be the case.

2) I guess I could be considered liberal on some issues but i'm probably more conservative than liberal. I don't saddle myself with labels. I believe what I believe on each issue rather than being mindless and following a party line on everything.
3) I don't have to "manifest racism in my own head". It exist everywhere and is rampant in these forums.
4) Who in a split second thinks "well, let me just turn my body in a reflective effort"? Are you for real? If you've watched the video as many times as you say you'll see there's no reason for her to move in the direction of the collision to save herself. Most people move away when self-preservation is their goal.

Hugh may have crossed the line on that one. I wouldn't do that to my worst enemy. But, just like Kathy Griffin and Bill Maher, if he simply apologizes, then all is forgiven. That's the way it works, "right"? Or should I say "left"?

Not really. Kathy Griffin apologized but was all forgiven? Absolutely not. She's still getting punished and rightfully so.
Sidebar: Did you see her crocodile tears? "The president and his entire family are trying to ruin my life." Ha! I'm no Trump fan but i'd like to think we still live in a country where you can't make a public gesture like that towards the freakin' President. He may be a dipsh!t but he's still our elected leader. What she did was inexcusable.

1) You're right, that was a low blow.
2) Me too.
3) I agree racism exists everywhere, and it is rampant in these forums. That does not mean there was anything remotely racist with this thread. I have the right to comment on a video depicting a black woman, even as a white man.
4) We view the video differently, thus we will agree to disagree
