WASHINGTON — In the 14 years since Al Qaeda carried out attacks on New York and the Pentagon, extremists have regularly executed smaller lethal assaults in the United States, explaining their motives in online manifestoes or social media rants.
But the breakdown of extremist ideologies behind those attacks may come as a surprise. Since Sept. 11, 2001, nearly twice as many people have been killed by white supremacists, antigovernment fanatics and other non-Muslim extremists than by radical Muslims: 48 have been killed by extremists who are not Muslim, compared with 26 by self-proclaimed jihadists, according to a count by New America, a Washington research center.

White supremacists, antigovernment fanatics and other non-Muslim extremists are the biggest terror threat to the homeland of the United States. That doesn't surprise me. I've always known who the problem is in the US.

“Law enforcement agencies around the country have told us the threat from Muslim extremists is not as great as the threat from right-wing extremists,” said Dr. Kurzman, whose study is to be published by the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security and the Police Executive Research Forum.
John G. Horgan, who studies terrorism at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, said the mismatch between public perceptions and actual cases has become steadily more obvious to scholars.
“There’s an acceptance now of the idea that the threat from jihadi terrorism in the United States has been overblown,” Dr. Horgan said. “And there’s a belief that the threat of right-wing, antigovernment violence has been underestimated.”

I pasted an article from today's New York Times. When you say I'm fitting data to my own beliefs, what are you talking about?
I'm saying this "journalist", and you since you apparently agree with it, think it is accurate to omit the single biggest terrorist attack on our soil, but count all the days after that day when we went on alert to stop it from happening again.
In sports terms, you took a guy who hit 4 grand slams in game one of the world series, showed us his next 8 at bats with the bases loaded when he got pitched around and intentionally walked then told us he's no good with the bases loaded

Typical liberal skewing of the data AGAIN... The first 3,000 killed by Islamic terrorists don't count to make this pathetic claim. How low can you go to try to make the country look bad?
It would be like saying after the suicide of Hitler and the fall of the Nazi's, more person were murdered by other person than by the Germans in Germany...

Homegrown radicals, right wing Evangelicals, and Tea Party activists in the US are no different from the Taliban in Pakistan and Afghanistan. They all share a desire to take our country backwards to a "better" time where intolerance of any other ideas is the norm, and the way to solve problems is by violence.

4 black churches burned in last five days, nc , sc ga, and florida. seems that muslims arent a threat compared to this . It doesnt make for good media theater as an individual with a gun. but a clear msg being sent in the south.

3 out of 3 of who you're naming here have never hung anyone from a soccer goal. Comparing the Taliban's 9th century ideology to that of the Tea Party is a despicable comparison, that I'll bet even your lefty friends on here wouldn't even agree with. Please disclose your source of where the Tea Party has supported violence as the Taliban loves to claim responsibility for.

You seem to be emphasiizing whites a bit. Any stats on how many white people been terrorised by black perpetrators? And what percentage was out of hate? We don't hear about black on white crime, just wihite on black. just saying. You also keep saying right wing. So these black terrorists are definitely left wing.

This statement just shows how much of a wack job you are if you truely believe this. Stop reading Huff post and watching MSNBC. It's eroding your brain. I'm just trying to help.

Maybe a hearty round of "Amazing Grace" would help. Or maybe saying the "N" word over and over on some obscure podcast.....
You know, all this B.S. talk lately about states in the South having the audacity to fly the Confederate flag, next time you talk to a Native American Indian, ask them how they feel about the Stars & Stripes.....
BOOM!!!!!
{sorry folks, at this time "Gimme Money" has dropped the mic and exited the building.......}
