Ive made the mistake in my life of taking bets for friends on my account honoring their word that they'll pay when payday comes only to be left holding the bag when payday arrives. It, of course, starts off small and they pay then they go nuts and lose their ass and the excuses begin.
I'll spare you my couple ridiculous stiff stories (pretty much lost my best friend 5 years ago cuz he stiffed me). Im curious to hear some of your "horror stories" from buddies who said "it wont be a problem" then come payday there was a problem

When your friends win, they will bug you like crazy to get paid asap. When your friends lose, they will try to forget that they ever placed a bet.
So so true.
My pay/collect day is Tuesday night. When my friends win theyre calling me Monday nite to "set up a metting time tomorrow". Yet when they lose I call them Tuesday afternnon an theyre like, "thought its not due till tonite, call me tonite" Then you call them and theyre "busy" lol

...and it's always hilarious how they think it's not due until 11:59 pm of that Tuesday.

I had a guy 15 old yrs back bet every NFL game over the total for $500 each on my tab. He ended up down over $5,0000 after the weekend. My book at the time tried everything to get the money knowing he had bet it. End result was a no pay and no problem on my end with the book.
I see the guy from time to time and he avoids me like the plegue. He's paying deep inside and more.......

Its hilarious cuz when you delay them a day or two they get all pissed but when they delay you months and months its "dont worry bro, you'll get it!!!!"" lol, yeah right
It just sucks because your friends act like youre such a dick when you dont wanna make the bet cuz youre afraid they'll stiff and then when they lose they turn around and stiff, its just a big "FUCK YOU" from them to you. The thing that drives me nuts the most is the nonchalantness (spelling?) that they tell you they dont have the $ with. Just like, "no biggie bro". Meanwhile Im coughing up my cashto pay another's debt. Sucks but I guess you just cant trust anyone, even your friends.

I gave him cash in Sept and he's made most of the bets i've wanted ..
Work and his kid sometimes get in the way but I give him the money before placing any bets ... keeps things Kosher and friendly ..

Had a friend who did not pay me after i took his action to my local. This kid always talked of me like i was a great stand up guy. Turns out he mistook my kindness for weakness. After he went 0-4 in nfl, he tells me he cant pay me till he gets his bonus from work next week. 2 months later..still no money for me. I get a call from a friend who owns a bar. Tells me the dude is at his bar running up a 200 dollar tab for a bunch of person hes with. I show up 10 min later and embarass him. Ask him wheres the money to cover his 2 month debt. He acts all insulted like i disrespected him. As soon as he stands up all drunk and tough-guy with me, i took the shotgun from the "buck-hunter" arcade game and broke the plastic gun over his head. He fell. I took his wallet off the table and it was full of 100 dollars bills. He owed me 1200 bucks. I took out 1500. Gave the bar owner 200 bucks for the game i broke and left 100 tip for the waitress and left. Never heard from him again.
