How neighborly are you?

Just wonder how everyone else feels about there neighbors.

I use to spend so much time with neighbors. Parties . Little side jobs. Small Talk.

Many have moved on to warmer climates or moved to be with there grandkids out of state.

20 somethings moving in all around now. Most are friendly and I always wave back or initiate with a hello.

Buy its nothing like the old days in this neighborhood. People are different Mood has changed. 

I try to remain polite with a hi or bye. Weather

but so many new neibors doesn't afford much of a get to know them. It is easier that way. If one asks for help I oblige can you get the door if they are carrying groceries sort of thing . But over the years I find not knowing them is better than to be concerned of what ever they are doing with their lives. 

The Mrs she is a bit more friendly with the can I borrow ...

As a means to start a conversation with her. More than need I surmise

but myself keeping them at a distance is the best way.

Now with everyone going to die of the covid no comes over I really have been at peace.

We live in a Townhouse so the neighbors are literally 10 feet away.  Got single older women on both sides of us so I'll do stuff like wipe the snow off their cars. Let them use our extra parking place because we are down to one car now.

I had my neighbor spend a good hour or more helping me pull my tractor out of mud last year after after the tropical storm/hurricane hit last year as i plowed so far into a spot that usually is dry but was so damn saturated it dropped feet into the soil...well like nothing he came over hitched me...got me out and it awesome. We looked like shit afterward we were so caked in mud it went pretty much went half way up my calf. Good guy and he lives a damn near half mile away. And I dont have any walk out the house ans say hello type neighbors as i live in a pretty rural area in Delaware.

When I had my TH , I had neighbors I would help.

Now, in an apt, no interaction other than hi/bye

Being in my mid 50's i'm cautious in a way toward the younger generation. With ppl my age or older i'm cordial. i live in a very diverse neighborhood now and most of the younger gen have no respect for the older gen. this isn'nt the 60's or 70's on Long Island when there would be Block parties when everyone brought a plate. there would be a DJ, cotton candy machines, magicians, clowns etc...

Damn every kid on the block were friends and would play all 4 major sports all year round plus the families never had an issue with each other.

It's so much different now.

We use to hang with our neighbors on the block. Have an older women who I give mahi to & bring her Holy Water from the church. Got a young doctor couple who the boss regularly brings her lasagna when they get off their 10 to 10 shifts. Take the neighbor fishing when his son is home from FSU where he pitches for the Noles.

The last time I talked to the guy across the canal was when I towed his ass in from a sandbar 3 years ago. Haven't spoken with him since.

Covid has certainly impacted out interactions.

Id like to think I was a good neighbor sort, the neighborhood I grew up in was somewhat of the Leave it to beaver style---except, there was a child molester next door and perhaps some more around...but aint that America you and me aint that america home of the free lttle pink houses for you and me

I bake cookies for the little children and invite the mothers for some wine
