That this is hell we are living in. And that this place exists for people who were not good enough in their past life and we are born into this, hell. It sounds like an insane theory but when considering the state of the world, and all the suffering, corruption, and misery.... could it actually be true?

I try to keep an open mind concerning ideas like this—I don’t altogether dismiss the possibility that we are living in a simulation—but this idea has many problems.
If there is a god (I’m an atheist so I don’t believe there is) that has the power to place 8 billion people in “Hell” after deciding they weren’t “good enough”, then it is obviously omnipotent. And if it is omnipotent, then it certainly could have just made everyone “good”. Then there would be no suffering anywhere, and there would be no need for a Hell. That would actually make sense seeing that this supposed god is so concerned that people are “good” and that they do good things.

No animals, person sapiens included, would ever suffer. Everything would live in harmony and they would always have what they need. No natural disasters. No hunger. No disease, illness, or addiction.
That’s just a start. I gotta think about this more. ??

That’s a challenging question.

There is a massive amount of ancedotal evidence that psilocybin can send relief to people on a myriad of neurological issues, in one night. Depression, anxiety, addiction, PTSD, etc. There is also a vast spiritual component to the experience. A common theme is that athiests will turn about face, & believe there is a God on the other side. Many universities are conducting studies w/ Johns Hopkins leading the research w/ over 60+ peer reviewed journals published. Touting an 83% success rate, IN ONE NIGHT.

I am convinced beyond any doubt that Cannabis and psychedelics are highly therapeutic and offer many benefits, both mentally and physiologically (mental illness is psychological though by all measures).
I have researched the pharmacology of drugs for thousands of hours. It’s something I really enjoy. I also worked as an addiction counselor for 5 years.
LSD, MDMA, and Ketamine have also shown promising results. That said, I highly doubt that any substance could change my stance on religion. Any experience while under the influence isn’t evidence of any god.
Peace!

The problem with looking to drugs like psilocybin and marijuana for relief on mental health issues is that in many cases, marijuana could have very possibly been the root of the mental illness itself.
I suspect that people who abuse marijuana permanently from an early age would be more susceptible to schizophrenia, anxiety, depression, and possibly other illnesses and personality disorders. Does it lower your pain, help the appetite, help you sleep, relax you make you content? Perhaps. But that doesn't necessarily mean it is fully medicinal and has no negative effects.
For the record I don't think weed is bad but "using it to treat mental illness" seems like a misclassification to me.

I gotta push back, but that’s to be expected of me. I’m a huge Cannabis advocate.
As for Cannabis being “the root of the mental illness itself”, the data to support it is limited. Some speculate that it could accelerate the process in cases where schizophrenia is already “going to happen”, but it’s all speculation. There’s no scientific evidence of it.
As for young people that abuse it becoming more “susceptible” to the things you mentioned, again, there’s zero evidence of that. It’s actually misinformation.
There is however real scientific research that supports the notion that Cannabis can promote brain cell growth, and essentially make a person more compassionate and empathetic. There’s also research that unequivocally proves that it destroys cancer cells.
Not to mention that thousands of minors die as a direct result of alcohol abuse every year, and that 0 die from Cannabis abuse.
I once tried to find statistics on people dying in car crashes after ONLY ingesting Cannabis. After several hours, I gave up. I’m sure it happens, but I know that it’s very rare.
I’m done. Just couldn’t help myself from countering your comments.
Peace dude!
