Juudging by comments here, people have got the concept of God wrong.....really wrong....
Consider this......
Scenario a) You are seated on a plane, someone comes upto you and says , put this parachute jacket on you. Not that the plane is going to crash, there is next to no chance the plane crashes, but if you put this parachute jacket on, it will make your plane ride really smooth, give you real enjoyment and make you attractive. Then 1 hr into the flight after the you put the jacket on, it actually becomes really irratating, very uncomfortable, redcues your mobility. Furthermore, people around you start laughing at you because you look like a fool. So the person grabs the jacket off them and throws it away. The jacket never made the plane ride smoother, comfortable, attractive etc etc...Quite the opposite.
Scenario b) You are seated in the plane, someone gives you the parachute jacket at the start just as it takes off and says, this plane is going to crash 100% guaranteed. During the flight, the jacket just like scenario a makes the ride uncomfortable, people are laughing at you for wearing it. But, the lack of comfort, people laughing at you doesnt bother you for a second, because you know that this plane is going down and this jacket is going to save you.
Consider God / Jesus as the parachute / jacket.
Often we think too much about our own immediate comfort, how we look, satisfying our own sinful desires etc etc. God in this case, is seen by non believers as scenario a. They will only accept God (parachute jacket) if he makes there life more comfortable, makes them more attractive, gives them worldly benefits etc etc. Then when they accept God, and live there life, they see it as quite the contrary, there is not the more comfortable life, etc etc, quite the contrary, they have more rules to abide by (ten commandments, going to church etc etc), therefore, they grab throw God away (parachute jacket).....
However, what God is about is more with scenario b...The reality folkes, we are all in scenario b. Eventually, all our planes are going to crash (we will all die one day), rather accepting God / Christ is more to do with the afterlife. We are ALL sinners, we dont want to perish, dont you see the person in scenario b sees that he takes the fact that he is going to die very shortly, so he accepts Christ, he is not after a more confortable life as people seem to think God should give if they accept him, or make him look more attractive etc....these are all the wrong ideas about God. Christ is the parachute that you have when the plane starts to nosedive saving you from death....That is the reason for Christ, a fate we will all face one day wether you like it or not, not for a better life here...
