when the Mrs and I were newlyweds in Norfolk, Va back in the early 70's, our next door neighbors were an Australian Naval Officer and his wife and they had a Koala for a pet. they are SO cool. they are like the "giggling hippie stoners" of the animal kingdom.

my personal choice would probably be an arctic fox. my father's patrol-bomber squadron had one for a pet when they were based on Attu Island during WWII. he said the fox was VERY tame, VERY playful and just all around great fun. it was like the smartest dog you ever saw.
