Illegal downloaders of music score a major victory in Ireland

Yesterday the Irish high court ruled that Irish law prevents record companies from forcing internet providers from cutting off people who download or share music illegally.The case was filed by 5 record label giants against cable and internet provider UPC.
Earlier in the year the country's largest internet company Eircom , formed an informal gentleman's agreement with the major record companies to cut off customers' internet service if they were caught downloading in a '3 strikes rule' where your internet would be cut off for a year on the third strike.Eircom are now reviewing their position in regard to this matter.
