Indiana has thrown its hat into the ring for legal sports betting. SB 405 was drafted by Senator Jon Ford and has similar language to several other states which makes sports betting possible if federal law is changed.
The bill details that the state's riverboats and satellite facilities would be able to accept wagers on the outcome of sporting events.
The US Supreme Court is currently hearing arguments by New Jersey and the NCAA - Christie vs. National Collegiate Athletic Association. A decision is expected by the nation's highest court no later than June of this year. The major pro sports leagues along with the NCAA have argued that widescale legal sports betting would threaten the sanctity of their games
The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) currently limits sports betting to Nevada, Delaware, Oregon, and Montana, though Nevada is the only state that offers straight up sports betting across all sports. New Jersey has argued that PASPA is unconstitutional.

I live in California where a buddy of mine went to a recreational weed dispensary when it first opened on Jan 2nd. He was complaining about a $9 tax on a $30 sack. Basically 30%
I asked him to name me one instance when the government got involved in anything and the experience improved.
I feel the same way about gambling. Extremely hard to win long term at 10% juice, let alone 30-40%

In Nevada, there is a 1% tax on all sports bets but the Books knew long ago that that was a non-starter so the Books pay that 1% themselves.
If the states monkey with the 10% vig there are still off-shore or bookies that will do business. There are many Locals (bookies) in Las Vegas that thrive just on the fact that customers love to bet on Sunday and not have to pay until Tuesday.
Canada is full of bettors that don't play the National set-up but go off-shore.
