After an ump blew a call in Sunday's Mets/Giants game that cost the Giants the game, its time to give each manager one challenge for any play involving a catch or at a base or plate.
Being twins fan, i remember twins getting screwed on play at plate at oakland..If there was instant replay or challenge available twins may have won that game and they wouldnt have needed game 163 vs detroit.
For those of you who think games are long enough as is, this would only add a couple minutes tops.

I also agree. And when it happens, please make it so that the challenging manager has to throw a flag onto the field (ala NFL). Watching Lou Pinella get pissed and throw the flag just reaks of entertainment value.
I'm also a supporter of the automated strike zone...let's get that ump out from behind the catcher. They will still need a home plate ump for safe/out calls but put him off to the side until he is needed.
Just my opinion.

what about the "in the area" out calls at bases that happen atleast once a game. Do you have to challenege them to overturn? What happens when a manger challenges the "in the area" call in the 9th and wins, have you taken some integrity out of the game? You will likely end up in a sitation where you overturned something in the 9th that happened in the 3rd and 5th innings but wasn't challeneged because it wasn't a cruical part in the game.Maybe the answer is If you win your challenege you get anotherone, but then how much can that slow down the game, could add 5 mins each time an in the area call is made. IMO baseball has too many grey areas, adding replay could lead down a slipper slope.
