I moved to the Philippines a couple of years ago. Yes, I know, call me insane. I like the weather and have my dream job. I can't believe that the new prez is doing this. I can tell you that it's not just the dealers he's after. The police have also been rounding up users. I have 2 neighbors, both Filipino, who are shabu (meth) addicts and the cops came looking for them a couple of nights ago. They fled to the mountains lol.
My concern is that it seems that a person merely has to be suspected of dealing drugs. No trial. No process. Lots of innocent people are going to die. And like the Huff article states, and we all know, that this approach will not work.
I really think it's just a matter of time before some cartel puts a permanent end to this guy. He has some good ideas but his approach to the drug problem won't work.
The propaganda machine is full-speed ahead too. Every night on the news they are showing drug busts and parading the suspects in front of the cameras. Of course, most of these busts are for small quantities but they obviously want the world to think that there is some super drug epidemic here.
It's obviously what the people here want though. He won in a landslide.

I believe it's possible. I think he has the political will to cut, or slow down drug deals. Change is coming as what his slogan says and people are feeling it as what the news says.
