LA advice and info?

Hey guys Im going to LA in may for the first and wanted to get some advice on things.

Was hoping to find a place to stay on or close to the beach. Any ideas on what beach to aim for?

Also,

Places to eat?

Things to try to do and see?

Any advice would be helpful.

Venice beach. has street acts and is a good place to start.

Manhattan beach is nice.

Mailbu has nice beaches and restaraunts

Zuma beach farther north is very nice beah that is less touristy where locals tend to go.

Long beach is farther south is a good beach to walk.

I don't know if there are too many bad beaches, so it just depends on where you plan to stay.

There are too many restaraunts to list. You'd have to give us a type of food you want and a price range to narrow it down. And a general location. LA is such a sprawling city and the traffic can be horrible, so you have to be smart. You can go certain places at certain times, but if you think you are going to drive across the city at 5PM you will be stuck in the car forever. It may just be 30 miles, but that can take 25 minutes or 2+ hours.

Thanks guys. This is all good information. As far as food I I&#x27;ll probably just figure out stuff on the go. But I would like to try some seafood/sushi, I heard its good Out there on the coast.

Was going to say Shade if he is going to Manhattan although I am not a huge fan of MB but for a tourist it should be great. Also Terranea resort in Palos Verdes https://www.terranea.com/It is a bit outside of the city depending on what you are doing here. If the beach is your main interest rent a bike and ride the strand so you can check it all out at your own pace. Are you coming here for work, vacation?

Not trying to hate on your city, just personal preference. I am down the street in South Redondo.

Pops owned 1208 Esplanade for years (Ave E and Esplanade). Lived in a beach bungalow there, saw dolphins swimming by everyday. Spent literally 100 hours trying to talk him out of selling.Failed. Comparable property at 1000 Esp was recently on the market for $6.25M.

Sadly more and more of the cottages are being torn down and replaced with condos along the Esplanade. There is a big project on Esplanade and Ave. G right now and another about to start a few blocks down. Makes me sad. I am a RE broker but I appreciate the older architecture of the beach cities.

I walk my dog along the Avenues almost every day. Whales have been breaching in the bay for a while now. Never gets old.

&#xD;&#xA;That&#x27;s sad. The last of the true beach architecture is going down from pier to pier. It&#x27;s all about square footage, massive scale and tasteless design that belongs on Miami beach. Used to live on the bottome and top of Ave A for years. Great area. Walking the strand in Manhattan is pretty hilarious if ya look around at some of the ridiculous houses. Who builds a 10,000 sq ft French Chateau on the strand?  It just doesn&#x27;t fit with anything.
