When John Mellancamp sang of "little pink houses" it reminded me of being on an LA intercity bus going to one of those Orange county cities, on the interstate looking down you could see all these tiny houses, tiny yards, crammed together and I thought God is that what my "great American dream" is as a nearly destitute temp worker is? Oh the humanity but even that morsel of Americana was out of my reach even though, who the fuck could dndure that nightmare?
