Losing a house to SANDY, really sucks......

It really breaks my heart losing the house we had on the Jersey Shore. I know alot of lives were taken also I understand that, I just needed to vent this. My wife just left for work and I am wating for my son to wake up so I can take him to school. It was my family get away for the summer, it really sucks man.........

Nothing to cry about if it was your SUMMER house..cmon..Sucks balls yeah but what about the JS natives with thier YEAR-ROUND HOMES..I'm just glad my parents were dead and not see this garbage in my hometown and thiers and a house they built in post-war 1945.

There are those who think global warming is just some BS theory. I'd caution against that logic. Hurricanes and other weather related issues are here to stay. Rather than rebuilding, I'd just sell the property if you can. 

You can rebuild someday in another area where being affected by weather is much less likely. You'll probably have money left over to visit the beach.

A) Of course hurricanes are here to stay. They've been here for thousands of years. They're only now getting attention due to the Weather Channel and other media outlets who want to whip the populace into a frenzy over an event which is beyond our control and has and always will be a threat.
B) Sure, rebuild somewhere else. How about Oklahoma ? I hear that it's nice there except during the 6 months of tornado season. Alaska is nice for about 2 months of the year. Arizona is warm but water is at a premium because you're living in a desert. California sounds great except for those pesky earthquakes. 
C) Sorry, but I think your global warming theories are misguided. Everything on this planet is cyclical and the inhabitants have very little control over it no matter how much we do or don't do.

The worst thing about the storm is giving New Yorkers and New Jersey residents something else to whine about. The constant snivelling about 9-11 has been bad enough, now this.

I'm surprised the two most overpaid professions, policeman and firemen, haven't been trolling around looking for their usual handouts.

sustained +/- $4k in damage on my house on LBI. Hot Water Heater, Washer/Dryer and some Roof Shingles. Fixed some of it and will do the rest next year. my firend and his wife got 4 feet of water in the rental house they were in. Gave him the house till he figures out what to do. I feel very, very lucky. Could've been SOOOO much worse. GL .

I know you're reaching out and as a fellow man who lives in Florida and dealt with losses from hurricanes....I'm sorry for your loss.
You're dealing with mostly un-educated punks on this site. The generation of today kids-punks. No morals. Could give two craps about another human being. Probably live at home. Never owned a home. 
Remember the typical gambler/bettor is not the successful one in life. Just ignore the ignorant. No coastal/beach area is guaranteed safe in 2012. Hurricanes can hit anywhere from Texas to Maine. West coast has horrid flooding. Rebuild Bill. It's what humans do. When we get knocked down. Sometimes knocked out. We take that pain and get up stronger. We rebuild better. Once again sorry for you're loss.
