Made In America

As you are considering gifts for family & friends, it doesn't take a lot of time to find gifts made here. 

You can get beach sandals made from recycled material & manufactured in Georgia; well made hoodies, running/exercise pants & T-shirts from American Giant; beautiful leather wallets from Tanners in Portland, OR; well made duffle bags & briefcases from Tilson in Seattle, WA; a 3D wooden American flag for your favorite veteran made in Arkansas via Subvet Customs; a portable Coleman grill made in Kansas, Texas & Minnesota; Dots Twisted Pretzels are a great snack made in Velma, ND; Mast Chocolate Bars made in Brooklyn, NY. You get the idea.

We all make bets each week that we would like to think are investments. Well, buying American made products is an investment in the economy of our country & communities. Your investment goes right in the pockets of other Americans which they use to pay the babysitter or the local pizzeria. 

So give it some thought & let the recipient of your gift know that it was made in America by Americans.

If we ALL made a salary/wage that allowed us to have the "comforts" of a developed country coupled with corporations/people that aren't greedy then we would think like that. Truth is, that the majority of people don't make livable wages, corporations/businesses are greedy and that's why the majority of American consumers have to resort to cheaper, non-American made goods..

Granted, the majority of Americans have poor money management skills that thrive on the "buy now, pay later," finance/leverage this (primary residence, car with a huge interest rate), let's prioritize my WANT (NOT NEED to survive. I.e new cell phone, clothing + accessories, services like trips) now mentality...

Don't worry. I'm all for spending on American made products and services and will even go out of my way to drive to an ATM to withdraw cash to pay cash to the local, small businesses in an effort to cut out the evil credit card companies but until we fix the above (which we can't and won't), American consumers will continue to buy products that are the cheapest and of or equal to the same quality. Look up the economic term "comparative advantage.."

...We have a made in America store here in WNY that my inlaws can't get enough of ..Believe the store was recently featured on CNN , Fox and headline news .

The inlaws have bought the MRS., the kids and I numerous products from there over the last decade ... Most of them break with relative ease ..A few Christmases ago they bought us shovels and sleds , the sleds split in half the 3rd time down the hill ..Apparently my 78 LB youngest was too heavy for the plastic ...The shovels did a little better , lasting about 3 or 4 snow falls ..The handle busted right off on one , the other one cracked in half ....We also were gifted a beautiful gas lit fire place that also broke a few months in , and is now used as a backstop for our wiffle ball games ....

I'm sure there are excellent American made products out there,  but this store that features goods made all over the USA seems to be selling disposable garbage ..

I bought one of my grandchildren a Wilson soccer ball made in Toledo, OH.  Got another one a Wilson catcher's mitt also made in Toledo. Got the oldest boy a PENN Battle III Rod/Reel combo because he thinks my rods are old. Well, they are & so am I. These are made in Philly. Got the oldest granddaughter a backpack for school so she can store her laptop safely from DSPTCH in San Fran. Almost bought one from L.L Bean but they are made in Nam & China.

These are American companies that have been around for years & stand by their products. Sure, some of our companies here manufacture crap products but once burnt once learnt, right?  

 I agree many Americans can't always afford Made In The USA products. I wanted to heighten the awareness of those in here who can afford it & to give it some thought as well as some ideas where to buy stuff.

A lot of the time it’s made in China assembled in America. Or designed in America made in China. That’s the case with most Penn rods and reels. They moved over most their production almost 10 years ago. But hey, whatever floats your boat
