If it was popular, it wouldn't be closing. People don't eat McDonald's like that in S.F. There are just so many better options to eat.

I mean, it's crap food, but the overall point is that businesses unfortunately are leaving SF in droves. It's a different place these days, not like it used to be, and it's a real shame. :(

Your uncle Ronald? I'm sorry, bro. Your parents enabled him byballowing him to repeatedly take you to McDonald's.

What, are people shoplifting McD's now? This McDonald's was at a mall, away from downtown. It's closing because people in SF aren't eating McDonald's like that.

I think the one on Front street closing was more because of lack of customers. There are still a lot of empty office buildings there and, thus, a lot less foot traffic than before the pandemic. That location also did not have a drive thru.
The Galleria location -- both were owned by the same guy -- were closed for additional reasons. He says the lease was going up because of the property taxes and insurance going up. Then he added the new $20 minimum wage adding to this decision.
This is just another example of the over-regulation and the minimum wage effects on an already very tight low profit margin industry -- and all of this coupled with still rising prices of food and supplies. McDonalds is not the only restaurants making these decisions in CA.
I say all of this because I bought a huge chunk of MCD stock a couple of days ago on the dip. I feel that they will do fine in the longterm in many other locations and around the world. Prices continue to go up and folks will tend to eat at cheaper and convenient places. McDonalds has always fit this model and will continue to fit it.

The thing is there are smaller, better chains available. And McD's prices are now on par with their more expensive counterparts. If you're in SF, are you opting for a burger from Super Duper or Shake Shack, or from a legit bar/casual dining establishment, or from McD is the difference in price is only a few bucks.
