Bob Voulgaris had become one of the most successful sports gamblers in
the world when, in 2004, he started to lose. It wasn’t just a streak of
bad luck, a series of randomly unfavorable outcomes that could last only
so long. His edge, he realized, was gone.
He had begun betting on sports in the late 1990s, and within five
years, before he had reached his 30th birthday, Voulgaris had
accumulated a fortune. He says he routinely wagered a million dollars in
a single day of NBA games. He considered his mean to be an unholy
winning percentage that approached 70 percent. A man of no fixed
address, he dated models and traveled the world. He was also an
accomplished poker player, buying his way into high-stakes games from
Las Vegas to Macau. He was essentially leading the fantasy life of your
basic under-35 North American male.

Goggle his name and you will find a site called "alone in the corner"
it has a number of very interesting reading such as calling the Lakers to be very good with Howard on board.
He did some nice articles on how the Celtics defense did very well against both Kobe and Lebron back in 2008 and 2009.
He broke-down some defensive theorys and showed how Phil Jackson made some big mistakes in theory against the C's in the 2008 finals.
He also said it's over for the next 5 years as the Heat will own the league.
I will disagree with that, this years Heat is a very weak rebounding team, not sure he takes that into consideration, obviously he must not, weak rebounding teams rarely win NBA Titles, even the greatest winners in the sport like Magic, Bird and Jordan could not win the titles as weak rebounding teams.
Unless Miami can elavate their rebounding before playoff time, not likely the will own the league this year.

Article is inaccurate in some areas. He bet 70K Lakers to win in 2000 at 7-1 to win 1/2 a million not 1 million.
And think about that!
He made one of the most ridiculously bankroll busting futures bets you could ever make (70 grand on a futures bet?!?!?), for an amount you would have to spread over several casinos just to pull off.
Hadn't he taken such a risk, he'd be more like the average high end basketball gamblers who is really good at what he does, nothing more.
Credit Robert Horry for taking him to mega-bettor status...

This guy is a professional high stakes poker player as well... He has appeared on High Stakes Poker that used to be on GSN where they play 400/800 blinds with a straddle. He also plays in the high stakes tourneys around the world on the poker tour. That is how I knew about this guy and started following him on twitter when I realized he was more of a sports bettor than poker player. He established a ''company'' where he employs several stats guys, web designers, etc to help him with his betting and analysis for games. From what I know and have gathered around from other people, this guy bets through multiple accounts offshore personally and with his ''company'' they do the same thing. He has several people at casinos as well, this is standard knowledge for any high stakes gambler trying to keep his reputation on the down low by casinos. I even remember him talking about betting larger amounts of money (in the 10s of thousands) on ingame bets.

Curious about the first few paragraphs of that article. NBA totals are split almost 50:50 between first and second halves (as opposed to ncaa totals which are usually about 8-10 points less first half compared to second half). Was he exploiting nba half totals or ncaa half totals?
