I'm a little curious to see what you fellas think. I just tuned in to ESPN2 and was watching the USA junior team kick the sh!t out of the World team.
It's obvious that we don't need NBA player to start in order to win the Gold in Rio this summer. How far do you think the USA would make it having only 17 and 18 year olds play in international competition?
Fellow degenerates, do you think they would still be favored? If so or not, what do you think would be a future line. USA +200, -110 etc.
Personally, I'd still take them to win it all. What do you guys think?

Dutch, i feel the same way about pro playing in the Olympics. The competition is for amateurs.
And no, I find baseball incredibly boring. I don't understand the strategy so I can't appreciate it like most of you fellas.
I grew up playing hockey, football, basketball and soccer.
I find this bit really funny.

Right on , My Father was from the Bronx , he tried to make a hockey player out of me @ like 8 years old , it didn't work out ( hockey in LA? ) so we stuck with baseball . funny I remember going to my Grandmas house ( here in LA ) and seeing Ice skating shoes ( always on the porch ? ) and wondering WTF are those ? at 6 years old...

Assuming they take their pros off the teams as well, yeah, we would still win. Look at the top college kids entering the NBA and majority of them are from the US. We'd smash other countries who have maybe one or two dudes who can play in the league.
However, our kids against their grown ups? It would be tough. Just team Australia has guys like Andrew Bogut, Matthew Dellavedova, Dante Exum and Ben Simmons. Teams like Spain and Argentina have been playing together for years and have that chemistry down.
We're able to win now because we have hall of fame talent at every position. Throwing a bunch of wet-behind-the-ear kids against a team full of 32 years olds who know their teammates would be a challenge.
I'd say USA +150

Hahaha. Good stuff man. Are you a Yankees fan?
My father was from Spain and wanted me to pursue soccer. My uncles on my mother's side caught my brothers and I had to ice skate and I've been skating since I was 4. We were fascinated with hockey and my father and uncles brought us to Devils games. Even the downtime in practice is somewhat fun.
How many times in basketball/soccer/football/baseball practice did you dread going because you knew you had to run laps (I know it's necessary for conditioning but it was hell for me). Not saying we didn't in hockey but skating is a lot better than running.
Randy, thanks for opinion. I forgot about the Australians. Watching other countries play against each other is entertaining because they get back to fundamentals, if that makes any sense. There's little to no showboating like the NBA stars that come from the hood, nah sayin?

Thanks for sharing man. Great points. Exactly what I was looking for.
You should clarify your original post then. In your OP, you specifically said 17 and 18 year olds, which would mean high school for the most part. A team like UNC actually relied on a lot of guys that wouldn't qualify for your hypothetical team.
I agree with Thorpe on those projections as well. I would add to it that teams like Canada and Brazil would probably beat the U.S. by 10 or more also.
