I am planning on taking the wifey on an all inclusive trip to Mexico some time around or after labor day.
I am thinking Cancun (or somewhere on the Pacific Coast). We are going without the kids, so we want a kid-free resort. My wife likes to lay by the pool and have drinks and I like to do what most of the covers members do - drink, gamlbe and puff a little! (this is why I am asking for your advice). Not into clubbing or anything like that, maybe some water activities, beach volleyball and a round of golf. Food and room are top priorities for the wife, she's not a fan of buffets for dinner, breakfast is cool.
I have heard about the drug wars in Mexico, but I have heard Cabo is safe - anyone have any first hand experiences lately?
Looking to spend $1000-2000 per person, so let me know of any good spots that you have heard of.
thanks in advance

Was in Cabo back in April.......definitely no drug wars down there.
I haven't heard many good things about the all-inclusive resorts down there &, frankly, I don't think you need it. I think they're all predominantly buffets & not real good. There are lots of great places to eat within walking distance if you book at a resort on Medano Beach (main beach right in town). Every resort has happy hours......some are better than others,e.g. 2 for 1 instead of adjusted prices. I highly recommend you pay for a 1bdrm suite minimum..........the junior suites/lockoffs are pretty small & usually not located in the best spot. If you can book someones elses timeshare room it would be a plus because you would at least have an idea where the room is located (floor, view, etc.) If you read reviews on Tripadvisor you can be misled...........we stayed @ the Cabo Villas (newer resort.....had a 6th floor 2bdrm suite) & it was great........hottub on patio, view of lands end........gorgeous. But I've read some bad reviews about the place. You can walk right down to the beach in 2 mins & go to the Sandbar, The Office, etc...........great location.

Mexico is not what it used to be brother.
Also getting sick on vacation with the shits and vomiting is always a blast.
With the Wifey's preferences and your likes - I would recommend coming to Hawaii.
PM if you need any 411 -- I can tell you a variety of tips and insider info that will keep the same Mexico budget -- but allow for you both to have an amazing time.

I've been going to Cabo for the L6 years, sometimes twice a year..........have never gotten sick. I even went at the height of the flu scare & had no problems. I don't know where in Mexico you've been going (sounds like Tj) but I haven't been afflicted nor has anyone I've been there with.
