One lesson is that guns make us less safe. Guns in homes pose a greater risk to family or friends than to intruders. Studies show that for every self-defense shooting, there are 4 accidental, 7 criminal and 11 suicidal shootings according to Journal of trauma, injury, infection and critical care.

In Maine if you have the right to bear a firearm, than you have the right to conceal it. crime (home evasions armed robberies burglaries are really low per capta .) '/= . If the person can defend themselves then this deters thieves to commit crime.
