I know that they will never reverse the call made by the ump the make this a perfect game. However, why not change the "hit" to an error and give the kid a no-hitter.
There is precedent here. Many scoring changes have been made after the game was completed so why not here. You might argue: Where was the error? Well, by rulebook definition (to my recollection), an error is given on plays that should reasonably be completed for an out. Clearly, this should have been an out. The only way he could be safe is on an error.
