Name Your Biggest Sports Trade - Slap In The Face To The Fans

Question

The NFL playoffs approaching, and James Harrison (who practically bleeds Black & Yellow) signs with the Patriots? WTF?!?! Growing up a Steelers & Raiders fan, (back when there was a little more loyalty and pride for your team by both the fans and the players), I know I would have been absolutely DEVASTATED if say Mean Joe Greene signed with the Cowboys circa December 1978!!

So, I got to thinking what are some of the biggest "F"-U's to the fans created by the team's owners, coaches, and/or players.

One other one I can think of off the top of my head is Brett Favre going to the Vikings.....

In 1976 Oakland A&#x27;s owner Charlie Finley tried to sell two of his All-Stars for $1m each.  LF Gold Glove Slugger Joe Rudi and Closer Rollie Fingers would have been Red Sox but Baseball Commissioner Bowie Kuhn nixed the deal saying that it was "not in the best interests of Baseball".   Today there are League Rules in place to protect every sport but you&#x27;ll never see a Commissioner of any sport "protecting the game".  They are simply hack men for the owners.

You mean something like Al Davis trading Gruden to Tampa Bay in 2002 and the Raiders loosing the Super Bowl to Gruden team in feb 2003?

The Raiders would not have another playoff appearance until last year

I was a big Mets fan back in the 70&#x27;s &amp; this almost made me cry. They did win the WS in "86, but this signaled the end of an era. The best move for the Seattle Mariners (&amp; worst for Montreal) was acquiring Randy Johnson, Brian Holman, &amp; Gene Harris for Mark Langston back in 1989..........but one of their worst trades was getting rid of him to Houston in 1998 because of his "bad back". He went on to win four more CY&#x27;s &amp; about 150 more games.

Like "The Rocket" going from Boston to the hated Yankees and helping them win a World Series.

Any Hartford Whalers fan will tell you the all time worst trade was in 1991 when we sent Captain Ron Francis &amp; Ulf Samuelsson to Pittsburgh for 2 Sub-par players named John Cullen &amp; Zarley Zalapski  . Pitt went onto great fame , while the Whalers never recovered from this TERRIBLE trade which pretty much finished off The Whalers a few years later.... I am sorry to say the City Of Hartford has never recovered

Had 2nd row Blue Line season tickets with a friend (the end where the Whalers shot 1st & 3rd periods). When we got the tickets every year we were like little kids. Sit on the floor, spread the tickets out, and took turns choosing. Still miss the Whalers also! :(
