Of course it's gambling

Now NY finally woke up ,Of course daily fantasy is gambling ,Dfk and FD are more of a problem with integrity of the sport than if sports betting was legal ,These sites boast of paying out 2billion dollars a year ( and that's just Fan Dual) it is so much easier for a player ,coach,or ref to take a payoff  just to allow individual players to have or not have great stat days, It's much easier to tell Player A just let player B catch 8 passes , you don't have to throw the game ,you don't have to  make sure your team don't win or cover ,you just have to miss a few balls in the air on defense , Or the ref can keep the flag in his pocket on a judgement call.  Either way it's so much easier to fix a individual  for a player stat ,than fix a game .    It should all be legal Poker Sports betting and Daily fantasy ,, Or all ill eagle 

What really gets me is the entire hypocrisy of the industry and the players involved. These people will swear up and down that it isnt gambling because its a game of skill. First of all, there is more luck involved in picking 9 individual players than there is in picking one team against another as in sports betting. Secondly, you are not guaranteed to win. You are betting that you can make a better lineup than the next person. Any time you bet money to make money, and that bet is not a guaranteed thing, that is the essence of the word gambling. But these people, if you read what they say on Rotogrinders, they will swear up and down that since it has been deemed a game of skill, that it isnt gambling.

What you have there is a bunch of hypocrites. For many of them, this is their only form of gambling, and when it does fall, they will be twitching to find something else. Lets face it, if you dont believe DFS is gambling, then you are either and idiot or just plain stooopid. Either that or a liar. I have been saying that for years, and that was why I was kicked off the RG forums, as they did not want anyone to say DFS was gambling on that site.

With Nevada's decision a month ago saying it is gambling, other states are going to start to follow, and you are starting to see the slow demise of DFS. I tell ya what, I enjoyed playing while I was able to, but now I am going to enjoy more watching it fall, and watching all the hypocrites go into a panic about what to do next.

imho it is no doubt gambling, the point is that both sides are hypocrites, the GOVERNMENT just wants their cut of the money, and using bully tactics to get it and come off again as big brother mentality they are looking out for your well being, yeah right, when in fact it should be a free choice to gamble or not, the folks at the sites are hypocrites in that they know this is gambling and trying to pass it off as a game of skill, please you are insulting all of our intelligence, that said again we should all have the free choice to participate or not and that is the real problem, the Gov taking away our rights and freedoms as Americans is bad for everyone no matter what side you are on

Once again if government does not get their cut you are a criminal. I don't even do this stuff but this is just a State strong arming yet another business and ruining jobs and growth because they can not control it. Welcome to socialism folks! You wanted it you got it. Please vote smart in 2016 and lets get this country turned around? Please?

Of course it is gambling and the only people that say it isn't gambling are the owners of the site (they want to make money) and the lawyers for the site because they want the site owners to keep paying them.  There is no definition anywhere that would say this is not gambling.

In answer to thorpe, when you pick 9 individuals, if even one gets hurt early, or gets sick, or just has a bad day, you are almost totally screwed from winning a DFS contest, whereas, if you have that same team that that player is on, you still have a very reasonable chance of winning the game. DFS is way more of a gamble than picking a team against the spread.

Any place that takes 20% rake is gambling.

Gov't wants their action...they should get it.

I am all for the regulation of the site. For all we know they could be adding ghost teams and submitting all the early players that have big games and taking back the pot.  After all for any gaming to be legal in the states the prize needs to be declared before anyone can register...so DFS stats the prize pool and then takes registration... That's how poker is able to hold tournaments...only when the prize is declared prior to the first registration.

Regulate it and keep it around...do the same for poker and MJ.

PS the govt does not give a garbage if you lose all your money gambling on marbles, as long as they get their cut prior to you doing to. wake up america! 

We're kind of seeing this replay itself. If anyone recalls the online poker days, then it's very similar in how it played out and will play out.

Yes it's gambling and I'm all for it. I'm also for legalizing sports betting too. Why not have it all.

I play and I know going in I might lose. Let me make that choice.
