When you can understand how difficult it can be trying yo coral the kids.

And there always that one doing it's own thing.

That happened down here near me in Winchester CT.  The Black Bear population has been growing in CT for several years.

Black Bears very rarely bother humans out in the wild.  Unlike a Grizzly Bear that will stalk.  Black Bears will however defend their cubs and that's why everyone including Police just stayed in their cars and let the situation play itself out.  She looked to be about 225lbs.  Good size for a female which can usually get up to about 250lbs.  The Males will grow to as much as 400lbs.  So as long as you're not packing food or bothering cubs then Black Bears are not a danger.
